Doesn't seem too bad on Voda (a few random apps that you can delete), but I have no real comparison.

On the Desire on Orange you had game demos that you couldn't delete. And they sneakily tried to fool you by putting "app store" on the front which leads to the shitty orange store, and hid the proper android stuff behind layers of menus.

Being unable to delete their shitty demos was the worst as the phone had a silly small internal memory, and some apps had to be installed to that only.
I'm on orange and it doesn't have any of that crap.

Ah, did you buy from Orange, or from Carphone warehouse sorry?

It's hard to take that seriously when their gadget of the year is covered in a thick layer of dust in most people's homes.

When you can't see the angles on the wall you're in trouble.

    I'm curious about this one:

"Outstanding Contribution to Technology: David Attenborough"

Did he invent some new way of invading cute little animals' privacy?

Just picked on up and got it sorted ( White S2, non-branded )

Got as far as chucking on the facebook and yahoo mail apps, plus a Thai / English dictionary... anything else that anyone can recommend?

    Slightly bewildered / overwhelmed as I was upgrading from a K800i o_o

The GPS / maps function is awesome when you don't trust the local ( Bangkok ) taxi drivers :D

Seems my GS2 is on its way out :(

    Screen keeps flickering
100% charge icon stays too long
When Powers off you see an alert triangle and a picture of a thermometer
Its a pain to get it to turn on from that state
When it does it enters MTP mode

Orange guy says its knackered and needs sending back to Carphone Warehouse :(

The SG2 is fantastic I've never been into all the smart phone stuff but I do really luv it, and at the moment its working fine, just the last two times I tried to charge it. Personally I thought it was the battery but more I read it might be the usb port

Everyone I know with one loves it, so I guess we cancel each other out, cosmically speaking.

The original S had some issues with lag and an overbearing, performance-harming Touchwiz interface - both fixable, though. The American versions of the SGS were treated pretty horribly, though - massively late updates and locked down.

Anyone rooted and flashed one of these?

Not planning on rushing into ICS but I am interested in a tweaked version of gingerbread still with touchwiz to get my head around the process. Most of the stuff I've paid for is off the market but got a feeling I did buy something from my carrier's market when I first got the phone. Wondering if I'll lose that.

Get the Ice Cream Sandwich Camera now! Free app!

The Panorama feature seems pretty neat, difficult to do at first but slow right down and you can produce some good results.

Am running ICS on my S2 just now,

    A few nice improvements.
The best of which is that it now 3-5 days between charges.

Make sure you back up all your data before you upgrade though, and pull the sim/mem card.

Don't fancy leaked firmware personally, leaked camera apps before I leave for Barcelona in the morning though, I will take!

Couldn't be arsed with experimenting at the moment, happy enough with checkrom v6.

They have started development on v7 over the top of the leaked rom and will migrate that onto the final ICS rom when it's released.
