Discussion has been taking place in the other BB thread, but since it's out next week I think it makes sense to split it off, even if only one or two people will be importing it.

Anywho, SFIV style challenge mode, and DLC character(s). Content-a-riffic.

Has this been confirmed for a PAL release yet, and if so, when?

I don't know why they even bothered releasing the first one here really. They're going to be too close together for both to sell well.

Trailer showing new moves, etc accompanies a "detailed corresponding write-up from one of the game's premier professional players", Xie. Which adds a lot, I'm guessing, so that's good.

@Scirvir: I think it's locked for October, is the latest PAL news, in the other thread...

Woo-hoo, Japanese LE arrived this morning.

    Comes with:

Awesome art book (awesomeness increases exponentially according to your love of people such as motherfucking MIKIMOTO HARUHIKO and the way they draw cartoon girlies)

Slightly odd replica script for some of the voice-acted story scenes

    Uber cute Nendoroid Puchi Noel

Bespoke disc art (do any non-"otaku" see this as an "extra"?)

And NCSX also threw in the preorder bonus drama CD!

Very nice package overall, now I have to go to sleep and then work before I can play the game. :(

    /wants to play as Hazama

So, this game is actually really awesome.

Tutorial and Challenge mode are very good, somewhere between the crazy tutorial in VF4e and the no-tutorial-just-do-it challenges of SFIV.

Legion mode I haven't touched because it looks... yeah.

Story mode is massive, so if you like playing VNs this is like getting a second game for free.

Presentation, etc, obviously excellent. Very polished game.

From a conventional/mainstream point of view, this should review as well as any fighting game ever, but you know it won't score as highly as SSFIV.

Hazama is crazy to play as, very unique character.

Off put by how complicated this will be tbh..

Funny that people think these games are simple compared with other genres; like violent maths lessons.

Oh and lack of players probably..

    It's not complicated at all.

I understand this plays a little like GG right? If so, then I guess it is not my cup of tea. Even though I love the artwork and characters, it looks like it is very combo heavy (long strings) therefore taking up a lot of time to get to grips with the moves. With SFIV asking the same of me I don't see how I can try this out.

But what I would like to know: are there other GG or BB players who understand what I mean when I say that I don't like the feel of the characters compared to SFIV? It's almost as if GG has a spherical zone that you just move around, instead of the feeling you have with games like SF where characters can be short, tall, have long range and just move and feel more dynamic. Bit vague this, sorry.

It is kinda similar. Have you tried Smash or TvsC as alternatives?

TBH trying a character like Carl isn't simple or easy, of course the hardcore GG crowd sees BB as a toned down noobfriendly yadayadayada.

I really want to like BB but it does have a significant learning curve not to mention a lot of mechanics that seem alien to someone used to SF, like burst, guardcrush, instant guard, no mashing for throw reversals, etc.

That being said the combos aren't that difficult (there aren't any 1 frame links like SF4 that I know of) you just have to get used to doing a lot of inputs and stick movements in a short amount of time :)

The 'hardcore' community are weird though, they sometimes seem obsessed with complicated controls for some reason.

Exactly I don't agree with them although I understand some complaints (like characters in BB usually having one good combo that works against everybody where in GG it was somewhat more situational) Doesn't justify all the bitching of course.

This is definitely a more complex game than SF, but less so than GG. Not because of the controls, but because of the mixup options, situational combos and the like. ie. the gameplay.

    Fabloony: Yup, PS3.

    ilm,

In your experience, where will 360 or PS3 be likely to have the most players?

Ah frig, this is out already? Should've imported the original instead of waiting for the PAL release.

A few people on here said they'd get the 360 version, not sure too many actually did though, or played it much. The guys I know from notEG who will be playing it (as well as me, obv) are going to be on PS3.

So, if I got the PS3 version would I have a reasonbly-sized pool of people to play with?

I ask because I wasn't think about getting this, but Sirlin thinks highly of GG.

I have an imported copy of BB:CT and when I played it prior to the PAL release it even had european lobbies so I wouldn't worry too much about finding games.

    Retard,

Thanks. It's whether I get it now or late. Also adding to the complication is that I have a PS2 adaptor for my Hori, so I think it will work but I can't be sure.

So, is it worth getting the first one or should I just wait for continuum to be released here?

If you're not going to import CS and want to play the game, you might as well buy CT, especially since it's pretty cheap now. They're quite similar, so you'd be learning the game well enough.

On that note, this game still largely escapes me. :( Just can't grasp why I'm "always" pressing the wrong button.
