Thought the demo was lovely to watch.
The missus completed DQVIII and she played through the demo earlier.

Funnily enough, I can definitely say, the graphics are in no way PS2 level...she's currently playing Skyward Sword on the wii and it looks terrible compared to Ni No.

Passing on the demo I'm definitely getting this having loved level5 since dark cloud, and don't want to spoil anything about this one until the special edition lands on my doormat next year. However, its good to hear that impressions are positive.

Demo is ok. Its a bit odd for JRPGS to have demos has its sort of hard to place you in a game world and sort of expect you to get on with it. The only other JRPG demo i can think off was FFX, and that was sort of the same, but quite good.

Still reaaaaaaly looking forward to this. not long to go!

Didn't like the combat at all in the demo. I wish Level 5 would return to real-time combat a la Dark Chronicle (which itself was pretty flawed, but after least a step in the right direction). I couldn't get on with White Knight Chronicles either because I disliked the combat.

Amazing visuals and presentation, of course, but I don't think I'll be buying.

Played this last night. While the characters are lovely, the environments are so generic.

Personally I thought Skyward Sword had a more coherent art style and very interesting environments (tropes and cliche aside).

I did like that Lantern face was a husky Welsh man though, boyo :)

The demo was alright, quite difficult to get a feel for a 100+ hour RPG in 25 mins.

I was already buying this on the strength of Dragon Quest VIII & Rogue Galaxy, both of which I really enjoyed.

I'd be all over an HD re-release of DQVIII on either PS3 or Vita. I love that game!

You're in for a shock if you see Final Fantasy X again.

Text is good, fully voiced RPGs that are over fifteen hours are a complete pain in the arse because you're constantly having to wait around for the voice acting, unless you're a special needs kid you're never gong to read the text slower than the actors deliver it.

The battle system is fine, it's just unfamiliar.

It actually lets you utilise one of the quirks of the Dualshock that can't be replicated on the other controllers. You can move with the left stick whilst also pressing the D-Pad with the forefinger of the same hand so you can move in realtime whilst still being able to use the menu.

I must have spazz hands, because I can't do that!

    Well, you are called SClaw.

You have to tilt your hand back slightly when you want to access the menu, the tip of your thumb is still touching the left stick, but at that angle your forefinger can get on top of the controller.

Maybe it's years of practice, innumerable PS2 games had menus, magic and weapon selection mapped onto the D-Pad. Having long fingers is probably useful too. :-)

@Cappy my method involves slipping my right thumb over to the left stick, freeing my left thumb for the dpad.

I can sacrifice moving the camera for the fraction of time it takes to switch commands.

Loved the demo. It's been a while since I played something like this so I'm very much looking forward to it.

I quite liked the combat once I figured it out. Terrible demo though, it took 3 attempts to work out how the combat worked. I can see quite a few people being turned off by it.

I'm looking forward to the full game (special edition pre-ordered ages ago) but I'm not expecting it to be earth shattering. It should be better than most Level 5 output though, especially in the story department.

    For the emperor!

Wanted to lov the demo but I didn't get on with the combat. Th older I get the less patient I am and it looks like the combat takes that. Died 4 times in a row with 'boss' so quit. Really want to love this game but don't think I'll beable to.

I was really hyped up for this but the demo utterly turned me off, TBH. I'm not sure if it's the demo, the combat or just that I've gone off JRPGs. A couple of years ago I'd be absolutely desperate to play this..

Still unsure about preordering, I love Ghibli but have developed jrpg ennui this gen. Anyone thinking this is going to be difficult to get hold of after release?

I doubt it'll be hard to get hold off for a while after release. Personally I'm pretty excited waiting for this, but I've not played a JRPG since FFXIII-2 and not played a good one since Lost Odyssey.

Due to logistics delays Ni no Kuni will launch 1st February 2013 with a free gift to download. Many of you are excited so we asked the wizards at LEVEL-5 to dig into their creature cage and they pulled out an adorable Draggle familiar. The Draggle familiar will be available to download for free from the day of launch

Given the delays some of my orders have been subject to recently, a week doesn't seem bad at all. :p

It makes it even more like the 'good old days' when games took two years and more to reach Europe.

Devil Survior: Overclocked? Actually, I shouldn't start doing that. Very bad idea.
