Ni no Kuni: The Another World coming to PS3Fantastic news. A Studio Ghibli game in HD? Yes please!

By Joe Anderson
Level 5 and Studio Ghibli are developing Ni no Kuni: The Another World for PS3.
According to Andriasang (translating from Famitsu), the game will include high quality cel-shaded visuals to complement the Studio Ghibli animation.
“You’ll be able to adventure through a world with the feel of a Studio Ghibli produced animation as is,” said the magazine.
The game was originally in development for DS only, however another platform was mentioned back when the game’s trailer was shown at TGS 2008.
Guess that “other” platform was PS3, then.
Level 5’s next game for PS3 is White Knight Chronicles 2, which will be released in Japan next month.

Level 5 are supplying the parts of the game you actually play. Sadly that's where it could go seriously wrong, they haven't struck gold on a home console title in a long time, not since Dark Cloud 2 really. -

Looks pretty good, just hope that Level 5 can match the quality of the gameplay to the quality of the visuals. -

Registered 7 years agoI've just been reading about the DS version. It's got sodding random battles.
I hope Level 5 have something else in mind for the PS3 version. -

Registered 4 years agono random encounters for the ps3 from what i've seen from the trailer.
Level 5 did do a great job on rogue galaxy, it was not perfect and below dark cloud 2, but still good. White Knight Chronicles 2 looks more promiseing as well then the first. -

If Studio Ghibli get on Mubi I can see Sony making it happen.ツ

Wouldn't count on a 2011 release in the US or Europe. It's planned for 2011 in Japan.

WKC2 is out in Japan. Rumours say that localisation is already underway but you know how long Level 5 takes to get one game done

Registered 7 years agoHas anybody credible ever confirmed that White Knight Chronicles 2 would get released outside Japan? It seems that the first game did really badly outside Japan both in terms of reviews and sales. -

Registered 7 years agoIf that's an official blog I guess they don't make things up.
I wonder if many people would prefer Level 5 to forget localising White Knight Chronicles if it meant not having to wait 18 months after the Japanese release for Ni no Kuni. -
Looking very good indeed!
I've been missing games like this recently, there were a few RPGs of this type on the PS2 but nothing on the PS3. -
