Wow. I know opinions may differ slightly, but that's definitely just wrong. Nice to know that I should probably disregard anything I read on their site.

Or the review scores at least.

    IGN are fucking terrible.

Wasn't too sure about the art, but I gave the demo a go anyway. Glad I did - not only is it an unusually generous demo compared to other XBLA titles, it's really good to play. Shame you can't rebind the controls, though. I'm using a Fightpad and it's excellent except for the roll controls.

The demo is very generous. Its obviously a very good game and I quite enjoyed it, but not the biggest fan of hack and slash games so think I will pass.

Highly recommend people try it out though, and I imagine there's more to it than just hack and slash...

The voice acting and dialogue was pretty terrible. I have to admit I nearly turned it off after the first conversation...

I do wish you could turn off the voices. Nearly quit the demo when I heard that bat thing speak.

Looked great in the videos. Is it actually bad or is this kinda game not your thing?
  • Deleted user 15 August 2012 21:31:38
    I think I'll give it a go.

Its not bad at all, he's obviously a ginger cutesy anime hack & slash hater.
    The WORST kind of bigot.

Its is saccharine sweet but there's a decent game under it all. I think

It's good. Has a very satisfying 2D fighting system, and the guy who made it has obviously studied games like Symphony of the Night and Ninja Gaiden. Any game where one of the default moves is essentially the Izuna Drop from Ninja Gaiden, with an idential button command - XYXXXY gets at least an early pass from me!

The dialogue is cringe worthy and the character designs are embarrassing. Gameplay seems smooth from the demo but too hack'n'slashy for my liking (I like Metroidvania style, but this isn't balanced to my taste). Decided not to buy.

There is literally nothing sexual about the characters or the art or the plot or dialogue or anything in this game.

If you're playing it and all you can think about is sex, then that says a lot more about you than it says about the game, LeoliansBro.

I played the trial and it made me go out and sodomise a wombat.

And you can even use it to bounce other enemies into the air, then Izuna Drop them, and mix it in with your flying death tornado move, remembering to drop a projectile so you suck it into the spin and fill the screen with bullets, sending your combo meter through the roof..

You can really lay the smack down on fools in this game.

    I'm calling Poe.

Also, the nerdrage over this game amuses me. I bet if a new (proper) Starfox game were announced the same people shrilly decrying "teh furriez" in this would simultaneously shit and spunk their pants in unrestrained glee.

The hack-n-slash gameplay reminds me of the Dishwasher games, which is no bad thing imo.

People who think anthropomorphised animals are a reason to avoid this game make me sad. All the things they must have missed out on, from Studio Ghibli to Wind in the Willows, all because of their insecurity.

I think it's great. Only played a little bit last night but I enjoyed what I played. It seemed to crash my 360 at one point? Or knocked me back to the main dashboard rather.
  • Deleted user 16 August 2012 06:41:10
I quite liked what I played. My only complaints apart from the industry standard bad dialogue is that it feels a bit floaty and there's a bit too much going on with that screen tear effect every time you attack something.

    @LeoliansBro
Wow, you must have hated Watership Down. I'm not sure why you (and others, you're just the most vocal in this thread) have such a big problem with this, I don't see it as any different to games which feature giant-eyed cartoon characters: it's just a design choice, nothing more or less. If it wouldn't bother you if the characters were cartoon humans, it shouldn't bother you if they're cartoon animals. No need to over-analyse it like that (pretty much every piece of entertainment media ever produced could be subjected to a similar hatchet-job with similar results).

    Wow.
