Registered 4 years agoOoooh! Oooh!
IGN didn't get the memo! (spoiler free video review).
The pros -
Excellent combat
Robust RPG elements
Excellent Metroidvania gameplay
Lush graphics and animation
Suprisingly moving story
Campaign lasts around 15 hours (much more with all the sidequests and secrets).
The cons -
Weak boss battles.
Final score - 8.5Now with 80% more Cthulhu!

Not very deep as I understand it. It's not really an RPG in that sense.
Any information on how deep the RPG elements are? Is it just a case of gathering XP, auto-levelling, and picking up loot, or are there things like skill trees, branching paths, etc? -

Registered 6 years agoThere are no skill trees, but you choose which stat you want to upgrade when you level up, so you can be magic focussed or melee focussed or defence focussed depending on how you play. -

). Definitely picking up Dust now though. Bit relieved, as SOA hasn't exactly been stellar this year. Now with 80% more Cthulhu!

Registered 6 years agoUntil you hear otherwise, assume it's 360 only forever. That's certainly all the dev's committed to so far so any opinion to the contrary would be completely baseless. -

Registered 5 years agoI'm not going to bother now either since Microsoft have put in some over zealous account security bullshit that want's me to enter a code sent to an alternative email address (that never arrives) every time I want to redeem a code. Cunts. -

Registered 11 years agoI downloaded this via the marketplace website as it wasn't on the dash yet, but now my 360 is going a bit mental: it keeps flashing up the "download complete" notification every few seconds, even if I start a game. Looking at the Active Downloads screen shows that it keeps showing 1%, then completing (hence the notification), then repeating over and over again.
Anyone had this problem before?
Edit: Can't remove it from my download queue on the website either.
Edit (again): And now it's magically fixed itself. Right, time to try it out!

Registered 4 years agoJust played about 30 minutes on this after buying earlier on. It's completely and utterly gorgeous. Not a big fan of anthropomorphised cartoon animals in games, but fuck that, it's beautiful and pretty cool to play too.Goose fat is sponsored by:

Added it to my download queue, looking forward to giving it a whirl when I get home. Hopefully it's great, Summer of Arcade's been a complete bust for me this year so far.

DON'T READ THAT REVIEW.
It has spoilers. Not plot spoilers, but spoilers that will genuinely make your experience worse.
I'm gonna collate the "safe" reviews on GAF, so if you want your experience unspoiled (and I 100% recommend it) then keep an eye on the Dust thread there. -

Registered 6 years agoI've never paid attention to them before, but what the fuck is up with IGN? The video review makes this game sound amazing and they give it an 8.5, the same as they gave Deadlight. Yet most places seem to think this is a much better game. Have they always been this spazzy with review scores?
Still, can't wait to have a crack at it, it looks absolutely fantastic! I just hope the combat is deep enough to keep me going through 15 hours. -

Dunno, was wondering the same. They've just reviewed Sleeping Dogs and Darksiders 2 which are both fairly big games and Dust is 20+ hours so perhaps they're struggling a bit

Registered 8 years agoAfter (and before really) the whole Kane and Lynch mess I've never actually listened to IGN and Gamespot when it comes to reviews. Comments sections are the best places to be honest. I do like EG though, its the whole British-ness.
I think I may get this at some point, its the only game in SoA that I may buy, THPSHD just wasn't right. -

Registered 6 years agoWell now I'm not sure what to do, I was so sure I wanted this I even topped up my MS Points, but I played the trial first anyway- since it's not a separate download, and it didn't really do it for me
Not bad by any means, in fact it plays really well, something about it just didn't click though. Undecided whether to take the plunge or not now.

Registered 8 years ago@BinaryBob101 People on the internet are dicks who don't mind ripping a game for its bad points, granted you get extreme highs and extreme lows in peoples comments but it gives a good gauge for public interest. Sorta using Amazon reviews. -
