Apparently Steven Spielberg is to executively produce on a new series called Terra Nova

The basic plotline is it's the year 2149, Earth is a polluted mess and a bunch have scientists have found a way to open up a portal to the time of the dinosaurs. Where they start messing around with the timeline to try and improve things in the future, while dodging hungry T-Rexes.

Sounds like a mix of Jurassic Park, Swiss Family Robinson, Quantum Leap and looking at that concept art Avatar.

Seems like it could be interesting until I saw the other Executive Producer... Brannon Braga :/

I wonder if there will be any mech suits with insane jump jets in this?

Despite queering the end of AI up, Spielberg is one of the best directors of our time when it comes to fun shit. I have hope!

AI didn't only have a bad ending. The whole circus/whatever thing in the middle was atrocious.

And don't even get me started with Indy 4 and its alien skull filled with crumpled tin foil.

At least he's "only" executive producing this thing.

Edit: Oh crap, I'm only into my 4th beer and I already can't tell it's from its? Shoot me now.

How does he still get work? The show is going to be shit.

If only someone would resurrect the idea, there needs to be more games like that, maybe a new one would actually sell?

As long as it had guns, yeah, of course it would.

    Brannon Braga : (
Can't believe after Voyager anyone gave him work...

This show sounds rank to be fair. What has happened to that one about the alien invasion and the survivors in the apartment block? The trailer was awesomes.

Voyager had some of the best episodes in Trek history. Doesn't really make up for the whole though.

    Day One?
Went from series to mini series to TV movie and is now not going to air at all, apparently. Bit silly when they've already spent money on the thing. May as well just stick it on one night.

Fallen Skies is coming to TV until 2011, also from Spielberg and the guy who wrote Saving Private Ryan. It sounds pretty good too. Post apocalyptic and alien invasion can only be good really.

I love the plot outline. Dinosaurs + geeks + timeloops must be a win for sure.

    It did?

I can only think of "Ship in a Bottle" and them making the Borg a menacing enemy again by 'explaining' the Queen a bit more (as in, she's a collective herself). Oh, and then cunting them up again by having Unimatrix Zero and a bunch of Borg kids.

I got excited when I saw the title but then I realised it's set on Earth and not Alpha Centauri and includes dinosaurs instead of mech suits...

oh, please don't be template episode, forumulaic tripe. I bet we could plan out the themes for the first few episodes ourselves.

There'll definitely be one where someone is stranded on the other side and it's a race to get to them. They may even make it two people who don't get along that well and we'll have a bonding episode. Bleeech.

It sounds like the 2000AD story Flesh. Time travellers used the dinosaurs as a food source iirc.

    Wow, "executive producer", eh?

    That basically means absolutely nothing!

Did you know that Speilberg was the executive producer of Transformers? The Michael Bay movie?

And, did you know that Steven Spielberg thinks that Transfomers 2 might be Michael Bay's best film?

Oh, I have high hopes for this, alright...

No he was only intrumental in creating Enterprise and Voyager. The wanker didn't have much to do with DS9.

He fucking almost bought the entire franchise to an end under his watch and for that he is a cunt.

I liked Voyager and Enterprise :(

Admittedly they weren't on par with TNG or DS9 but they were still very good IMO.

What we like is irrelevant as we are (I assume) star trek fans and would watch a show about how they go to the toilet in the 24th century if they made it.

It's about growth, didn't grow the market and crucially with Enterprise they actually lost some viewers!
