The biggest problem for me now is those 'rotate and go' controls. Hard to get back into that having gotten used to proper analogue controls in the later games.

It's 4.99 on Amazon Marketplace. It's a bit dated looking now though.

Looks sort of okay, but I'm still a bit weary. Like that they've kept the theme music.
Dude, the music is one of the best things of the game. In fact, they've kept the musical composer to do the music for the film.

A damn sight better then all the nu-metal that makes the other computer game to film adaptations impossible to watch. In fact, the score during the trailer is one of the things that really helps to set it apart from all the other standard horror movie trailers, where eventually they also break out in nu-metal.

Apparently it was only confirmed this afternoon that it is from the movie so that may be why they removed it.

Did they think it was from a new Coneheads movie?

EGM: It doesn't help when a critic like Roger Ebert says that games are not art....

CG: F*** him. You know, I will say to this guy that he only has to read the critiques against cinema at the beginning of the 20th century. It was seen as a degenerate version of live stage musicals. And this was a time when visionary directors like Griffith were working. That means that Ebert is wrong. It's simple. Most people who despise a new medium are simply afraid to die, so they express their arrogance and fear like this. He will realize that he is wrong on his deathbed. Human beings are stupid, and we often become a**holes when we get old. Each time a new medium appears, I feel that it's important to respect it, even if it appears primitive or naïve at first, simply because some people are finding value in it. If you have one guy in the world who thinks that Silent Hill or Zelda is a beautiful, poetic work, then that game means something.

Fair enough! Had no idea Gans was such a straight up guy. Gimme the movie now!! :D

Great interview - it's really sounding quite promising.

when we first decided to do Silent Hill, we wanted to base it on the second game. It was very natural, since that game is the favorite of every fan, and it's the one with the most beautiful world, and it's the most emotional one of all four. Every gamer who finished the game knows what I'm talking about...

and I thought I was the only one who loved SH2 the most...

The film looks very disturbing...I'm guessing that's a good thing, right?

Thank goodness for Cristophe Gans, though - he could probably teach Uwe Boll a thing or two, preferably whilst kicking him in the nuts.

Video games are like any other medium. Books, comics, etc. A talented filmmaker with a respect for the material can make a great movie out of a video game.

Not quite oral sex but as far as the film industrie goes an equally wacky statement! ;)

It all seems quite Hellraiser-y to me. Looks great though. I've never played any of the games myself, so the pyramid head looks more amusing than frightening, but we'll have to wait and see if that holds when I shit my pants in public watching the film :D

Link to 15min Starz Behind the Scenes downloads

Any doubts you had about this film will disappear after watching this. Christophe Gans has absolutely nailed Silent Hill \o/

    /is well excited

Edit: My bad. Linked to wrong thing. You should spy a torrent somewhere named "StarzSilentHill.divx"

    Silent Hill Featurette

Seems like a PR decision was made to not reference the videogame. The director even says "Everything in this film is unique."

Shame that game tie-ins have been given such a bad rep by Uwe Bol et al, that Silent Hill has seemingly disowned the franchises' origins.
