    Just watched this. Some thoughts:

    Really bad acting
    Really good music
Errr... WHY the fuck did they go there again?
    Shit CGI transitions
    lol Sean Bean American accent
    nice colours
    Nice ending
Lots of fixed camera angle shots... straight out of the game?
    Monty Python influence?

Worth it if you've never played SH1 and only glanced at the others?

Havent read the whole thread and dont want spoilers, but does it make some sort of sense?

Coolies. The missus has played through it (! oh the shame, the only game she ever has!) so at least I can get answers from her.

So does this work like a different chapter then or is it an amalgamation of sorts (like Resident Evil)?

I just want to say after watching this last night I thought it was fucking awful.

Some of the character design was inspired (Pyramid head etc..) and it was shot well but it was overly long and that performance from Shaun Bean was one of the worst things in cinema history.

Christopher Gans is capable of so much better, in fact I need to watch Brotherhood of the Wolf again because its bloody ace.

+1 for the "wasted opportunity" camp. Some really really great design in there, but not at all scary and really bad ending. I liked the "death by" quote for how I felt about the film.

I thought it was alright actually.

Sean Bean was having a laugh though.

I didn't mind it too much. Not an astounding film by any means but certainly not the anal seepage some of you have been calling it.

    This signature intentionally left blank.

I enjoyed the first game but never completed it and never went on to play the others for some reason...maybe that's why I actually liked the movie.

The atmosphere was perfect, the music was quality and some of the scares were, well, pretty scary. Worst moment for me was that guy in wire crawling towards the woman, eugh, sent chills up my spine.

Pretty daring horror film in some ways in that it was completely obscure, looking back there were some crazy scenes. Maybe not a perfect replication of the games but pretty close, and not too close that it became none sensical and too...well, gamey.

I can't remember the girl too much, shows what an impression she made.

Do you dislike her because she is creepy or because she's a poor actor/ruins the film because one is a plus point to the movie, another a huge negative.

Best game to film adaptation, though that's not a hard title to claim.

You can't watch a horror film because it scares you, yet you continue to criticise it even though it is doing by definition what it sets out to do...

    Disgraceful :p

I didn't understand the end at all though, not even in the slightest.
It's a list of people who appeared in and made the film

if you have nothing intresting to say then you might as well just throw your bags on the truck and drive away

    I wouldn't worry, I don't think anyone did.

Still, made about as much sense as the games so at least the fans were happy.

Good film though, despite the crazed ending. The story isn't great, the dialogue is so - so and the acting is mediocre, what saves it is the atmosphere and set designs, they're just perfect.

Make a distinctly average film worth watching.

It's also a horror film and you don't like being scared hence fast forwarded through the scenes you were scared by...

    /golf clap

Seriously though, I can see why it wasn't for you if you didn't like the games, the general feel of the movie is exactly like the games.

Why would you watch a film in a genre you don't like and then complain it's crap?

    wtf?

Saw this on telly for the first time the other day - bloody loved it! I don't even like horror movies and I've never played the games beyond the demo of the first (it shitted me up too much at the time!) but I thought this was really interesting and exciting. A shock!
