    From the Guardian:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/may/19/brighton-britains-coolest-city

It was hip until Eurogamer Network Ltd opened shop.

Aberdeen is far cooler than Brighton - it's about 600 miles further north and is on the North Sea coast. It was fucking freezing when I went there!

Not as nice as I used to be

You should try Cambridge if you want to see a city polluted by students. And cyclists :-(

Used to live there when I was at ole Sussex Uni, and the city did seem like a very happy place to be. Mind you, West Street at the weekends brought out the complete opposite.

    That article is pretentious nonsense.

Anyone who uses the phrase "that's so Brighton" should be severely reprimanded.

I donít think itís as cool as it used to be.

The fact that itís the Guardian making this claim says quite a lot, as does their use of the word ďhipĒ.

I've been to Brighton a few times and whilst having a good laugh each time I've just come away with the impression that it's actually a bit of a dive.

Brighton has the best burger place in the world, Grubbs. Therefore it is the best city in the world.

Mind you, even though I lived there for practically 3 years, I still didn't REALLY like it. It just had a certain vibe to it.

Ohhhhhh I have wanted to go to Brighton for ages. I hear it IS cool and none of you internet types will put me off.

As for your catch phrase it's totally borrowed from my neighbourhood.

I saw a angry drunk Polish guy throw a can of beer at an owl. "That's so Ealing!"

It's more of a pleasure-town. Come in, get wasted and then gtfo. It's increasingly ruddy hard to find a native in these parts nowadays.

Still, at least we have all of the drug pipes and single-people.

IMO Burger off (just off western road, Brunswick st east or west I forget which) is better.

    I donít get Hove.

I know quite a few Londoners who have moved out there because they canít bear how urban London is, and now commute for a total of 5 or 6 hours just for the better living conditions.

Iíve visited them, and itís no less urban than most of zone 4 of London, let alone the surrounding places like Hertfordshire, Kent and Essex, all of which are much nearer to London.

Not sure about cool but I do like Brighton. I love to have a wander up the pier, check out the junk in the lanes and have a nice bite to eat in one of the great sea food places. It definitely feels like a place well past its prime but I like it for some reason.
