Then you should make sure you've turned off the automatic service renewal for the 3month sub just to be on the safe side. If you have money on your PSN account, it will take it on the 91st day, which will scupper your plans for upgrading to the full 12months for another 89 days.

Might be worth bearing in mind that subscriptions stack, so you don't need to wait until the end of those three months. Also, Sony often shove out cheap subs during sales and if you can marry that with cheap PSN cards you're laughing. I've got two 30 annual subscriptions in the last two New Year sales, as I recall.

My 30 day trial code finally arrived, annoyingly well after the 3 month deal has ended but I guess that's what you get for trying to game the system :)

I can see why they added some Vita titles, if I wasn't so poor I'd be tempted to pick one up and have instant access to load of the best titles.

That's really starting to get to me now as well. My thinking is that I would gladly pay 30 each for Uncharted and Gravity Rush if they were on another system that I already own so it's money off a Vita. I think once I have enough games that would have cost me the price of a vita + a decent sized memory card i'll look into getting one. The cross-buy deal helps as well.

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it yet in another thread, but Codemaster's (Mario kart HD) game F1 Race Stars got a great discount last night on PSN.

It was previously 34.99 and is now just 17.99 after the PS+ discount, and at 1.1GB is a reasonable sized download for most broadbands.

I haven't played any of them so can't comment on quality but LBP Karting will be in the 12 days of Xmas sale in a couple of days. So if anyone is in the market for one of these games then it might be worth holding off until then.

ASRT like the predecessor is quite a shallow game imo, and isn't even as good as LBP Karting. Neither are quite 8/10 gaming for me.

F1 Race Stars is visually much better suited to karting and the frame-rate holds up much better in four player splitscreen. The power ups are logical and balanced, the three stage kers system for boosting needs real skill, much like landing boost, and even the ability to hold (x) to change your pickup to a different random pickup is an excellent game changer. F1 Race stars is unfairly underrated, and EG's review was worse than the score they gave the game.

I spent at least 5years karting in MK double dash last gen(and play any karting game I can) and firmly believe F1 Races Stars is the true mario kart HD contender once people get up to speed with it.

OK I got a PS3 today, didn't bother buying any games as I'm just going to be using Playstation Plus and catching up on lots of games I missed this generation. Downloaded Arkham City, Vanquish and Limbo... but Limbo doesn't just seem to have downloaded.

It was just a 6k unlock file and if I try to re-download it the same thing happens. I've done a quick google search and other people seem to have had the same problem, but that seems to be when they had downloaded a trial first. I've literally just got this PS3 so is it normal that downloads will just be a game unlock? Do I have to make sure I download a trial first and THEN download the game?
  • Deleted user 15 December 2012 00:44:24
Yeah grab the demo first then the unlocker, worth a try.

20 used like new on Amazon if anybody is interested. Its 25 brand new.

Its a good deal, but i find with these things is when you check online the price isnt much different and somtimes better. Also you get a pysical thing to admire/lend/sell. That said, im personally liking having digital copies so im a bit tempted.

Hmm, when I had my 360 I tried to steer clear of digital full games, but I somehow don't mind with the PS3 (probably because so far all my digital full games have been free...). But still, 21.50 is only a decent price if you can't live without it right now. Wait another month and a physical copy will be half that.

NFS MW probably has an online pass though, so be ready to throw in some more money if you want to use the online features on a used copy.

It's normal to get the game download as a trial version and a small unlock file for the full game. It doesn't matter what order you download them in. With my Limbo, it still said 'Limbo Trial' after downloading both things. However, after I had started the game the first time, then it changed to the full 'Limbo'.

    What does "joining PS3" mean?

Does that mean existing members don't get it?

    @RyanDS Joining PS3 = PS3 games. Joining Vita = Vita games

Playstation Plus includes PS3 and Vita games. I just split them according to the platform.

@StixxUK Remember, only the Vita version is on the service. It isn't cross buy so if you're after the PS3 version, you're out of luck (for January anyway).

I'm still pretty new to this, does last chance mean that those games are no longer available on PS plus after that? are they still playable if you've downloaded them?

@Mr-Brett If you've got them in your download list, you can still download after those dates as long as you're a member.

It's only if you don't put them into your download list before the deadline that you lose the chance to get it.

This is a really good service and the biggest reason why I went for a PS3 over a 360. Such is the quality of the service that I am tempted to get a Vita to avail of the games while I commute.

Yet another noob question time - is it possible to put games on your download list somewhere, even if you don't have that console? So that I can play them in the future if I decide to get a PS3? :)

From the outside, I tentatively agree.

I've had a 360 for ages now. I've always resented paying for xbl, but when you compare it to PS+ it seems downright scandalous. I don't know how good the online gaming architecture itself is compared to XBL, but when it's free I wouldn't begrudge a small drop in reliability or quality. I'm tempted to get a PS3 now, but I do like the fact that all my game collection from this era is in one profile, and I don't really have much interest in any PS3 exclusives bar Heavy Rain.
