I wish they'd just leave the classics alone. They're never gonna top the stallone one so I don't why they're bothering.

Awesome premise, gripping first chapter, predictable second decent into total fucking shitfest for the third.

What would be a good Judge Dredd comic to start with? Remember reading some of the ones featuring Judge Death when I was a kid as they had cool covers. I enjoyed them but never read any others.

Or in fact all the Dark Judges, just so they can have my favourite line ever:

Judge Fear - "Gaze into the face of fear!"

/He opens the front gate of his helmet towards Dredd, and shows his face, which brings alive a persons worst fears in the most terrifying way, which would cause the death of any man

    Dredds' Response

    Brilliant!

I remember a similar scene in "Satan's Island".

There was a good interview with him about Dredd. He seems to a bit of fan of Dredd and he wants to do a faithful adaption.

Can't be worse than that DOOM pish he was in. His McCoy in Star Trek was very good imo.

For a decent modern Dredd story it would be worth picking up Total War.

If you're wanting a more classic Dredd and to get a feel for his world at large try picking up the Complete Case Files releases as they're quite cheap for the amount of content inside them. I think Volume 5 is seen as a decent jumping on point as it includes the Apocalypse War which is one of the more important 'epic' story arcs. The beauty of Dredd is that although he's got a massive and varied history the stories usually stand alone fairly well, unlike a lot of American hero comics that require an encyclopedic knowledge of the backstory to enjoy.

Much as I like Karl Urban, he will always be a homosexual paramedic on New Zealand's premier soap Shortland Street.

We never got the true Dredd on film, it was and shall ever be a role for Clint.

I used to have a t-shirt as a teenager with Dredd smoking a massive blunt that said "Judge Grass, I am the lawn". Oh how we laughed.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Agreed. Did you ever play the game of Shortland Street spotting in the LOTR films?

Should have called it "I AM THE LAW" and been done with it.

I always though Nick Nolte would have been the best Dredd, he's got (had) the chin and the gravelly voice. There was a story once set in the undercity involving mutie werewolves, and Dredd bumped into a judge who had taken the long walk down there, and he was modelled on Clint. Can't remember the name of the story or the Clint Judge though... but it did happen, I tells ya!

I just died. I've got well back into Dredd since 2000AD came on to the PSP comic store, and would encourage anyone else to do the same. There is some really well written stuff in it.

Love that picture. Looks more realistic for running around in than the weighty shoulderpads from the comic, although I'm sure fanboys will be on here shortly to correct me by saying they've ruined it! ;)

Hmm not sure about the uniform at all, the helmet looks far too big for a start, but I'm prepared for better shots before I start screaming "cube these suckers for 20 years!"

    This space left intentionally blank.

Yeah, his head looks way too small. As shit as it was, Stallone had the perfect profile for Dredd.

True - Stallone's head is gigantic.

Nowhere near the size of Alec Baldwin's head, though. That thing has its own gravitational pull.

From the rest of the costume, I get the feeling that the helmets are going to be fit-for purpose, like a modern-day riot helmet that would actually protect your whole head. Very interested to see more pics/other judges wearing them.

You could be right, though it doesn't look as though it's there in the photo. Or maybe it's the angle. Anyway I really, really , really want this movie to be good. I've been a Dredd fan since prog one of 2000ad. Although I wish they had just ogne with a straight up adaptation of the Cursed Earth.
