Does anyone else have the issue with iTunes installer not putting a SQLite3.dll file in the right place?

Everytime I upgrade I get a pop up error on startup that is only resolved if I manually move the .dll file from the apple application support folder to the mobile device support folder.

EVERY time I upgrade I need to do this. Fuckers.

This piece of shit keeps popping up and doing it's best impression of being malware, it's doing my head in. I don't want to kill it completely since I do occasionally use it to buy music. Any advice?

Untick Open iTunes when this iPod is connected, in the Devices section.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

I have, it seems to think that the iPod is connected even when it isn't. Last.fm pops up to say it's scrobbling too.

Hmm, what about the sync over WiFi option?

Just kill it entirely and boot it on the rare occasions you do buy music. Best thing about my S2 actually.

mrpon, I hadn't thought of that, it says it last sync'd wirelessly in December, but that doesn't mean it isn't trying. I put it in airplane mode for now to see if it still happens.

Dougs, How would you recommend doing that? I've tried before by disabling startup processes and while that worked, it also stopped iTunes being able to start at all.

Fucking ace. The missus has lost various music files and for some reason when she tries to repurchase/redownload it says they are still on the computer.

It really is a shit system. It's so locked down and user unfriendly. I'm glad all my stuff is in mp3 and ripped from my cd's & vinyl so it's never any issue apart from slinging it back in to itunes from the external drive when we change computers etc.

@Vortex808 Have you used the 'locate' function in iTunes 10? Use that on one track, and it should find that and ask you if you want to look for other missing tracks as well.

It's still a shitty, hateful piece of crap, but hopefully that may fix your problem.

Now iTunes free thankfully after my missus contract ran out. Bye bye regular trips to the genius bar and bye bye to this - as has been said shitty, hateful, bloated piece of turd software that it is.

I fucking hate iTunes. Love my iPad, but this just makes me want to chuck it in the pond.

New laptop, I should be able to just plug it in and easily see a way to back it up. I don't even mind saying "Make this my only registered machine", although that irks a bit, but I can live with it.

But I get no option - as far as I can see, i can only sync - which from previous experience will just wipe my iPad (sync it with the new iTunes, or at the very least wipe saved data eg game saves).

Or will "Transfer Purchases" do it? Does that do saved data too?

It's such a shitty piece of software, I'm always amazed it's an Apple product, seems to go against all their usability principles.

Google suggests I can backup on my old latop and physically transfer the backup to my new one - how's the average PC illiterate user going to figure this out?

Found out yesterday I can stream MP3 files direct from the Dropbox app on my iPad, bypassing iTunes completely.

Tick the Favourite icon and they play offline as well. Obviously it has limitations, but maybe helpful to someone.

The new iTunes is absolutely rotten from my experience. iPod syncing barely works. Constantly getting stuck on songs.

Yeah, I have to keep unplugging and re-plugging the iPod in before it's recognized by iTunes.

Not that it hasn't always been a problem, but one that seems to have increased in frequency of late. Of course, I've got an older iPod, so they're probably trying to squeeze me out.

Click and drag from iTunes pc playlist over to that right, select which playlist on the phone to add the track to from the pop out.

So glad that after converting my music to mp3s and selling my iPad, I got rid of this turd. It's among the worst broken software I ever used, Microsoft was that bad 15 years ago.

    "it just works" - lol

So is it a known issue that iTunes refuses to transfer some purchases from the iPad to iTunes then? I've synced it, backed up, and it still says there are some purchases not transferred. Piece of shit.

God I hate iTunes. I have an iPad but I but I still pretty much refuse to use this jankware. Why can't Apple just let me import stuff using software by a company that actually knows what they're doing?

    HEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLP (Captain Cavemen)!

After an unfortunate laptop incident, I've had to build a new PC without being able to back up my iTunes.

My iPod has my complete music library on it, so before installing iTunes I thought I'd just plug the iPod in, go into the folder and copy it all over on to my PC. Erm, computer says no.

How, without wiping the whole collection on my iPod, do I get my iTunes collection on to my PC?

I have a back up from about a year ago, maybe 18 months ago, but that's massively out of date. How do I get the music, playlists (and song ratings, which I use to help create playlists on the fly on the iPod) off of my iPod on to iTunes on the new PC?

Just reading it a little closer to. Think it's actually assuming you have two computers. The first with your iTunes library on, using that to change the iPod into a HDD.

There is nothing that really unite fits your issue. :/
iTunes really is a pain! None of the "Related" stories really hit the spot either.
It must be a problem that come up for others and they've covered it.
