Much as I admire his talent, if I was in charge he'd be long gone. On his day he can get past anyone but his crossing and decision making are variable at best. That said, I've never seen him as a winger anyway - I'd have given him a run behind a striker where beating one man can be much more dangerous. £8m looks like a fair price to me but Celtic obviously feel differently (or the bid reported was exaggerated).

The man makes a good point. He has been more dangerous when played in the middle. Depends on the game I guess.

    Co-efficient points are needed, badly.

    No one cares, that's why.

    Don't you support Everton?

Why are they using an orange ball? Scary defence plus a midfield who'll meet each other for the first time at kick-off plus Sami. What could possibly go wrong.

It´s a version of the Jabulani, the ball that´s being used in our league this year.

    Thanks. Why is it orange?

Don´t know, everyone hates it. But they are changing the color in November because it seems that the color-blinds can´t really see it on the field.

Oh, and Braga is winning 1-0.

Hmm Ajax are playing Stekelenburg, van der Wiel and Suarez. If they play in one of these preliminary rounds they can't play in Europe for another team this season right?

    http://edition.cnn.com/2010/SPORT/football/05/19/football.penalty.FIFA.WorldCup/index.html

(CNN) -- Footballers taking penalties at next month's World Cup finals in South Africa will no longer be able to stop at the end of their run up to try and trick the goalkeeper.

The rule change is a reaction to the growing number of players, particularly in South America, now using so-called feints to deceive the opposition.

In an announcement made at a meeting of the International Football Association Board (IFAB), chaired by FIFA president Sepp Blatter on Tuesday, those who halt just before kicking the ball will receive a yellow card for "unsporting behavior".

"Feinting in the run-up to take a penalty kick to confuse opponents is permitted, however feinting to kick the ball once the player has completed his run-up is now considered an infringement," FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke told a press conference held at the organizations headquarters in Switzerland.

Players may also be forced to retake the penalty if the ball goes into the net.

And that makes it 2-0. Shocking defending by Celtic.

    Fuckssakes Celtic.

Well this is predictable. The defence is embarassing. Lennon = cheap option.

    Very disappointed. And wholly unsurprised.

Great result for Braga on their first ever Champions League match.

I wouldn't be too disheartened, tbh. Remember the first result of the Strachan era?

It seems they changed the rules this year. If Ajax are eliminated on this round, those 3 players can play in the Champions League for another team. If not, they could still play in the Europa League.

Heh, I just did a really weird little train of thought when I saw that Juventus were in the Europa League qualifiers. Went something like this:

OMG Juventus in the Europa league, shit, I hope we don’t get them! OMG!! We’re in the Champions League, we’re definitely not going to have to play them. OMG!!! We might have to play much better teams than Juventus, like Barcelona or Real Madrid. Then we might go out the Champions League and go into the Europa League. OMG!!! We might have to play Juventus in the Europa League!!!

Nothing to worry about. Shamrock Rovers will knock them out. Aided by U2 for the return leg of course.
