City fans singing "you're just a shit Leo Messi" to Ronado.

The same guy that's made your captain look like Titus Bramble all night.

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

I have an irrational hatred for Dzeko. I don't know why, he just looks like a knob.

That goal was very RVP in execution.

lol at City fans trying to boo Ronaldo. Sounded like it was about 15 people but they gave it a good go.

Kinda stopped paying attention after that.
the team Rijkaard built was based around Puyol, Deco and Ronaldinho, and messi was just coming through.

Guardiola virtually gutted out the core, built the team on the academy players he was familiar with and coached, built around Puyol, Xavi (who was there but was hindered by king deco), iniesta, and messi. Improved them by making Busquets (much as I hate the knob) the key deep-lying midfielder, much to the world's dismay by selling the (still) world-class Y.Toure. Brought through players like pedro which initially brought questions till he proved them right.
then to top it off, turned messi, who was doing great as a RW into a CF (thus popularizing and bringing back the false-9 position) which has been the making of messi (at a time when the idea of a diminutive playmaker could play in the position that was commonly known for big target men).

then there is not just their passing style, but the ethos who coached into the team about gaining the ball back within 7 seconds of losing it in the oppositions half before returning to form, which a distinct coaching style of their off-the-ball pressing tactics.

basically, the idea that Pep simply watched a world-class team do their thing is madness. The idea that this team was built by Rijkaard is simply ridiculous.
I had a post much like yours in the writing but you said it much better. One thing to add though. In his last season, he also brought in the three man defence which is turning out to be quite the trend at the moment when it wasn't before that.

They've spent more time booing Ronaldo and the ref than they have their own team.

@ecureuil odd thing to say calm down, why would I not be? I don't support barca.
Not denying the conditions will be totally different (though its only in recent times the academy is bearing the most fruit).
I just find the whole "Pep hasn't really done anything except lead a group of superstars. He's not truly proven" kinda lazy. Its like when people in here were claiming first that Suarez wasnt worth the price as he hadn't yet proven himself or when people claimed Aguero would be a flop. Its just rather lazy and cliched.
edit: I'm talking specifically about your claim that its Rijkaard's team, not Pep's.

    @QotSAfan Indeed.
Pep has nothing to prove. Its like when brits would just recycle the whole "ibra is overrated" even though they probably only ever saw him play against a PL team.
until of course his goal last week,

Have people forgot what great goals look like. The hype over that Zlatan one the other week and even that one. Good goals but nothing amazing, overhead kick isn't a hard thing to do when the ball is hanging above you. From a cross, now that is a good overhead kick.

Need a goal to stay in a competition? That's right, swap Aguero for Milner!

I've been wanting to see that since the last time they played in the competition. What an amazing tie that was. People applauded in the pub. Great entertainment.

Probably. Have enough big players that you couldn't rule us out though. Especially with Vidic back. And the 2nd leg would be at OT.

It's what the CL is all about though, them dream matches. Will have to beat the best to win it anyway.
