Have they recently changed to not expiring their credit vouchers? I've got two that I see are set to expire in 3010. Even assuming the receipt was still readable then, I doubt they'd still be in business.

Indeed, all vouchers are now redeemable until 3010. So in other words, indefinatly.

The one in Edinburgh merged my 3 different vouchers into one for me the other week as well.

It smells and all their games are in shoddy condition and only a few quid cheaper than getting it new.

I've got a few reading 3010. I've got about 400 in vouchers once I'm finished on this exchange. I've had a wonderful time with CEX recently. I traded in all my CDs that sat in draws, untouched for years, for about 260 and got a 26" Samsung from the Arndale. Also just traded in all my PS3 games that I have penned as "I have completed, keeping in case I decided to play in the future"/"has a sequel coming out"/"I own or can own on PC dead cheap"... and now have romped in with 260-ish. I've got a few more things to trade including a phone, plus a voucher for 70 and I have an iPhone 32GB 3GS on its way to me. Going to send in the vouchers once received. Effectively getting a 3GS for a load of stuff that sits around and "might be played" one day. Far too many PSP titles and UMDs that I just won't touch traded too. Stripped down on those too. Can pick those up cheaply at some point I bet if I really want.

There's a lot of Manchester residents on this board. This pleases me.

I've never had a problem with CEX - got the DJ Hero kit from there 6 months ago, sealed, boxed, for 35 or something daft. The only time I saw something that might have put me off is some guy in the sale queue had a spider the size of a tarantula on his jacket and everyone lost their shit. He ended up stamping it to death because this women went mental and wouldn't stop screaming. I didn't need to see that when I'm just trying to offload Splinter Cell Conviction.

I forgot the point I was trying to make. But I'm fairly sure the gist of it was that CEX is fine most of the time.

Oh, and the time I did go in there and the spider got loose, I tried to swap Splinter Cell for ACII and Hitman Blood Money, and the kid couldn't find the cases - and he told me that people come in, steal the blank cases, put a blank DVD in so the weight/shake is right, seal them up, and try and unload them at boot sales and at other used games places. So if anyone's a bit short on cash, apparently that's a pleasant little sideline.

    Kind of the right thread..

I'm clearing out the house and have about 100 DVD/games that aren't worth much but I wondered whether cex might give me a quid or so per item, anyone ever had any experience of trading in this sort of volume? Any tips?

I lurk. If I've spoken to you, I'm either impassioned, or drunk.

Doesn't matter how many you sell, they will scan the DVD/games and give you the price for each product separately. You can use cex.co.uk to see how much they pay.

Yeah, can you drop in a load of stuff and come back later for the quote?

No they will scan them when you are there. It does not actually take that long. I traded in 60 dvds and blurays and it took under 5 minutes to scan them all. The only difficulty is if you have games and dvds as you often have to take the games to a different desk.

I bought a game from there 2 weeks ago, the track preview sometimes skipped but the races seemed ok.
Is that a good enough reason to take it back?
The disc is scratched very badly.

It's up to you. If you're happy with it as it is, keep it. If you want a copy that runs properly without any skipping at all, then take it back.

If it's not working 100% and it's full of scratches, they should take it back no problem.
