Will you be playing GW2 then Dave? Remember you lasting quite a while on SWTOR.
I'll be setting up my own guild to get start working on my personal Guild Vault asap. Read that the server could be up as early as 06.00 CEST, not sure I'll get up that early as I'm fairly confident my characters names won't be used, but then there's a chance Desolation will be full by the time I get online, as it filled up quite fast during the BWEs. -

I'd have been all over this if the beta gave any indication of what the final game's frame rate would be like on my PC.

Registered 8 years agoI was talking about SWTOR where you got to level 4 (if I remember correctly) before deciding to level another character in WOW.
I had some problems with the camera and input lag in the BWEs too, just not sure if it was the game or me not being used to the ability queue system yet. -

Endgame nothing beats WoW because WoW is the only MMO that has lived long enough and has a sub model, so the endgame gear hunt is all that matters. GW2 might get fairly good, but honestly it'll probably suck at the outset. Most companies focus on early/midtier stuff for slow levelers and just let the poop sockers suffer for their poor decision to rush through an MMO playing 20 hours a day. -

I'm still playing it, on Infernal Dawn with my guild, but thinking of finishing up and jumping on to GW2... the end game on it is fantastic but now played WoW since the second expansion.

I won't go back to WoW now, but as a PvE'er I'm wondering if GW2 is going to be right for me...
Rift is about to get a massive content update, so I really do need to decide if I'm going to keep playing it, or try something new. Can't decide if GW2 is going to be it though.
Never played GW1 either as it sounded way too PvP for me. -

Registered 4 years agoGW1 was a PvP game. The PvE was more like a kinda shitty RPG than an MMO. the PvP was pretty much top of the industry for a long, long time.
GW2's WvW PvP is really amazing too, and since the names above people are removed its a lot less personal/more PvP. : D Enjoyable.
GW2's PvE is pretty darn good too. They did a good job of making everything feel populated, moreso than other MMOs do. It also has super-fantastic map design, so there's always something or other to look at. The class design is really quite good too. The downsides are that its still grindy like any other MMO, ability progression seems kinda slow to me(especially compared to GW sprinkling new abilities on you) and it seems a little skimp on the content unless you want to grind a little/play WvW. -
Super fantastic in single digit fps.

Registered 4 years agoNot my problem your computer sucks. Even my old computer could get 30+ FPS with fairly good graphical settings, unless about 50 people were swarming on screen.
I didn't say they wouldn't be sparsely populated in 12 months. That's the nature of the beast. Hell, even WoW felt empty whenever I tried getting into it, and I was trying when it was actually at its western playerbase peak. -
Hardly sucks and should piss all over something as average looking as mmo 234234. Just about anyone who played the beta were extremely disappointed with the frame rate.

Thanks captain obvious I understand that but I had hoped that later in the beta cycle I'd have to to see something more along the lines of final code and been able to judge how well it would perform looking towards a purchase.

Registered 8 years agoHey if you want to see bad frame rates in a mmo try Rift with Max settings. Even my gtx 680 has trouble getting a steady 30 fps in raids. -

Registered 4 years agoYeah, they need to iron out the framerate regardless. It might be a stupid problem where they didn't optimize properly.
I also wish the old GW1 PvP was back but that's never going to happen because ANet hated balancing it so much. -

Registered 4 years agoYou know playing World of Tanks I completely forgot I'd prepurchased this.
Kind of miffed they nerfed the 'any skill as long as you have the points for it' into the 'you must by 5 tier 1 skills first' etc. Feels like a bit of a bait and switch under the guise of "oh but it confused people!".
Still it is free to play and I do still have it installed on my computer (probably should set it updating before the 25th). -
