Which is why I didn't say Superman. That wouldn't work.

    But, they're so inextricably linked!

I really can't see why Penguin can't be done. All he has to have is a slight physical deformity or whatever, there's no need to be fantastical about it.

Same goes for Catwoman, she doesn't have to actually get "powers" from cats or whatever. She could be like the Year 1 Catwoman, which is a great character. I really think she has to be in the next film, she's a key part of Batman lore.

FWIW I also think Robin could be done.

You could maybe have Lex in this movie as the baddie, then have him set up for Superman, rather than having actually Superman in it

Or as a minor character passing through; he is a businessman after all.

But what is Catwoman? Back flips and robberies, how could she hold her own against someone like Batman? She definitely wouldn't be enough to hang an entire film around.

Same with Penguin, I don't really see what he would bring. Someone like the Riddler, I can see just fitting in perfectly in this new universe, and leaving puzzles etc with his victims.

It would be fun if they even just name dropped him at some point.

She did quite well in Batman Returns. Although that did have Penguin. Again, it all depends on the story, cast and lots of other things too.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

In a one-on-one fight neither Joker nor Two Face could hold their own against him either, not any other Batman villain with the possible exception of Raz.

The whole point of the Nolan universe it it's a gritty real re-imagining. That means all the perceptions of existing characters are basically meaningless. Any of the can be reinvented to fit more or less, it just takes a bit of imagination.

Hmm. I suppose. Your Joker point is a good one. If they did bring her in, then I'd say go all out and use the prostitute version from Year One. Can't get more gritty than that.

Although I'm still not convinced that she'd be good in it; maybe as a "is she helping Batman/is she hindering him" type way, in a supporting role. As daft as it sounds, I feel she may be out of place in Nolan's universe (as if a man dressed in a bat costume isn't! Hehe).

Nolan could cast David Copperfield in the role of Superman in his version of Batman, armed with a concealed jet-pack, duping the people of Gotham City with illusions of superhuman strength and an ability to fly all over the city :D

Lex would be just as out of place in a new Batman movie as Hans Gruber.

I would literally bet 100 that the villains are Riddler and Catwoman. Riddler is perfect for Nolan being all riddley and that. Bruce needs a new lady in his life, and apparently Nolan wants to close his characters' story arc with the 3rd film, so Catwoman would complement the deceased Rachel Dawes nicely.

Nah, Talia Al Ghul would be better, tie it up with the first innit. Plus, Damien! (joking)

That's true. Maybe with the magic of reimagining Talia Al Ghul will become catwoman in a surprise twist ending somehow involving a riddle.

I'm still betting my 100 on Riddler and Catwoman. And 10 on an outside chance of Catwoman being Talia.

Well having a look the character list in arkham asylum there's not exactly a shortage of who to pick. I would probably pick the riddler because he's probably the character who can have the most interesting plot lines next to the joker. But who knows if they can find a body builder big enough maybe will get bane who will try to take batman out.

The only way Two Face will be popping up is rigor mortis of the penis.

Robert Downey Jr isn't signed up to weird contract with Marvel preventing him from portraying another comic book character anyway.

Only place I can find that is amazon marketplace, for 20 plus p&p. Too much for three issues :(

Sounds fantastic though. Will keep my eye on ebay for it.
