I wanna see this at the weekend but so far I've only seen previews taking place on Monday. Anyone seen any different?

It's not out till next Wednesday or something like that, and the only preview day is Easter Monday. So I very much doubt you'll see it on earlier than that.

I'm definitely going Monday, can't wait. I love Thor.

Most hated films; Boyz n the Hood. Are we there yet. Bad boys. Thor...

Yeah, ok pal. I'm sure this has to be a joke...right?

Yeah Captain America was always the dodgy one for me, very tricky not to make it look cheesy, or tacky, or cheap. Plus with Joe Johnstone... hopefully it's more Rocketeer than Wolfman.
As a fan of Rocketeer I hope so too and given the period setting I think Cap should work well.

Watched this last night and its really good 8/10, but for me Thors Hammer is laughably small I have a bigger hammer in my shed. Not familiar with the comics was his hammer small in them.

Fx and humour were spot on, but Portman was miscast, this is so beneath her.

Kenneth Brannaghs directing was surprisingly good for an FX heavy action flick.

Isnt Antony Hopkins in this? bit of a stretch to say its beneath her but not him?

I'll go out on a limb here and say that Portman has been in far, far worse.

Is she actually miscast or do you think she shouldn't have picked it as a project? Two very different things.

She's done plenty of action flicks, from Leon to Star Wars. She has a wide range in her work.

    She also did Your Highness.

Yes, she had a good (but overrated, imo) serious performance in Black Swan, but that alone shouldn't put her "above" anything. Hell, even veteran actresses like Helen Mirren and Judi Dench haven't found action movies to be "beneath" them.

Anthony Hopkins is a terrible actor, he just mugs through every film he's been in since Magic. Pish.

Didn't Portman also do a much derided romcom thing recently?

What are they, Leon and HEAT?

She's done a few great films, quite a few good films and some turds.

Hopkins was pure ham but good ham.............he gets angry a lot. Portman just seemed to be phoning it in. They could have give her a role to a younger fresh face. I think they wanted to give it some a listish credibility by having Hopkins and Portman against teh unknown lead actor.

Hey but lets not over analyse, the first 40min of Thor is pure set up for the smackathon to follow and it does it pretty well.

Portman also did Star Wars episode 1-3. It's hard to go lower after that.

I dunno. Have you seen the wolfman?

It's unfair to judge him on that one - most of the problems came from the studio dicking around, not him. The rest of his stuff from the last 10 years hasn't been great, but not terrible either.

    Thor 3D - 7/10

Decent enough. It's very, very funny in places & the guy who plays Thor is very good. I want to see it again in 2D. The 3D glasses made some of the night scenes very difficult to see. The end credits had the best 3D in there.

It could have been awful but the whole thing back on Thor's planet is handled well. The action is pretty good and look out for some references to other Marvel characters. The 2hrs 10 mins just flies by.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

I can think of three. They all have "Star Wars" in the title.

    Thor 2D 6/10

It's about as good as it was going to be and Is handled well. It's probably about as good as Iron Man 2.

It is at its most entertaining whenever Thor is being Thor but the rest is fine. It also fits into the wider Marvel thing better than IM 2.

There's no way I would want to see it on 3D, it just isn't shot right for it.
