So it's 10 hours in and after all the slagging off and bitching about it i'm scared to say i'm actually enjoying it..!

It's true the liner corridor thing is the most restricted of any FF yet, The combat systems still feels vague, and don't get me started on the restricted levelling up.

But it's not with out it's charms.... the story is very typical but I still find it engaging, most of the Cut scenes amazing, and I still get a that tingle when the boss music starts...... something I only get from Final Fantasy Games!

I enjoy it more playing in short bursts....... The last FF I had played was X and played nothing else from start to finish in between. This i can play it after a session of ME2 for about half an hour before bed..... It's like a bedtime book!

I'm cracking on with it smiling.... and reserving judgement till then.... but so far it's just a "not that bad" from me!

Whatever your view on it "Edge" Mags 5/10 was ridiculous and think it was only done to get us looking, talking and buying about "That" review.... very clever really!

I'm sure we have a thread about FFXIII already, but thanks for your opinion.

Oh cool, finally a FFXIII thread! I've been waiting for so long.

Totally agree with OP, it's amazing that one an actually enjoy a FF game in short sessions! Save spots are so well placed, and the option of pressing "back" to re-start a fight is briliant. I'm also enjoying it very much.

Wait until you sit through the "Operation Nora" bullshit, it'll seem like a fairer score.

Yep, 5/10 is exactly in the middle. Therefore it's "not that good, not that bad"...

Just like the OP is trying to say! Except he feels that 5/10 means "fucking shit", and only a 7 or 8/10 means "not that bad"....

Part of the problem is that 99% of mags and sites give 7/10 to shit games, 8/10 to alright games, and 9/10 to everything else...

Well that's it though. For games you can forget about 0-4. The scale starts at 5 and you should adjust expectations accordingly.

Basically, what Edge are saying is that it's nearly as good as Dead or Alive Paradise.

Not with Edge, though. They're the exception (EG to a lesser extent).

Sure, they've gotten games wrong (a.k.a. had a different opinion to me) in the past, but the least you can say about them is that they use the full scale accordingly.

When they give a game a 5/10 they're not saying "it's shit", they're saying "it's not great, but not too bad either".

Considering edge are the ones that game a higher score to Dead or Alive Paradise than patapon 2 I think actually paying any attention to there reviews if rather foolhardy.

Well that's the line they give out, but all it really means is that they allow good games to drop into 7 and 8. If 5 was a score for an average game the surely it should be roughly an average score. I bet even edge's average is nothing like 5.

    5/10 == 128 / 256 or 1/2 or 50%

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Taken literally, 5/10 means exactly average. Not bad, not great, but OK.

In the review world you only really have; 7 for 'shit', 8 for 'good', 9 for 'great'.

As for 10 it just gets scepticism for objectionable hype.

I personally wish more reviews were written in the same mind as the OPs'.

10 hours in and you like it? i dont play rpgs myself (not my thing) but an rpg only gamer on this site has a strong opinion on the game: "never been so insulted in my life"
