2K to blow on a new desktop any suggestions?

    Need a new desktop got a shuttle PC about 5 years ago and now its playing up.

    What can i get for about 2K.

    Only need the PC no monitor etc. I want pre built systems only no way have I got the skills to build my own.

    Dino PC are usually alright, some people have seemed happy enough with them.

    Spend a quarter of that on a decent PC and put the rest towards your savings or something worthwhile.

    2K is a stupid amount, unless you're filthy rich, which I bet you are.

    Push the budget to 5k and then you're talking, 2k doesn't get you an awful lot to be honest.

    750-1K seems about the limit before you're just buying stuff that costs more but doesn't do (much) more.

    Well that's fine but it would make more sense to buy a fairly good PC and upgrade with fairly decent parts as and when you need to, rather than spend 2K on a PC that will last a couple more years (at most) without needing upgrading.

    There is no way you can future proof a PC. It will be out of date in a couple of years no matter what you buy now. Much better getting a pretty decent PC for half the price. I built a cutting edge (top Athlon processor, fastest IDE HD available, USB & SATA 3 MB etc) PC recently and it cost me 500 without a gfx card (I figured my 8800 Gt would do for now).
