Have to say, the X12s that I got the other day are great. Really pleased I bought them and wish, frankly, that I'd got them earlier!

Registered 6 years agoCan I just chip in - avoid Tritton Detonators. I think I'm on my third replacement now and that's just broken too; one of cables is faulty. I don't treat them badly, they're seemingly just poorly made. That's a shame, because I like the sound quality.
I know someone who bought the Warhead, the £200 wireless Trittons, and I think they went on the fritz in a couple of weeks.www.hatchetjob.com - more than games. "Seemingly trivial, surprisingly deep"

Registered 3 years agoI have x12s and they have been great for me. There is an annoying high pitched sound when playing on console, which is masked by in game sounds/music. However, people have said they can hear it when i speak.
On pc, they've been fantastic. -

I haven't noticed that myself, but I do get a loud feedback buzz if my play and charge kit is plugged in.

Registered 5 years agoMy wife got me a pair of the Black Ops 2 branded Tango ones for christmas.
Have to say they are rather fantastic. I've never used a headset that wasn't a freebie or a £10 bargain before so using these is rather a relevation. Sound quality is great and I'm sure all those hundreds of buttons and settings do something, but I haven't had a chance to play around with them yet. Being able to use them as a phone headset as well is great when the phone rings. -

Registered 5 years agoHave to say, I am amazed at how much these make a genuine difference to playing black ops. I have gone from averaging 30 deaths, 10 kills, to having ten rounds in a row with positively ratios. And that is mostly down to being able to pinpoint footsteps and so on. Hell, now when I am approaching some places I can hear the enemy footsteps or reloading, and that gives you that split second advantage when you go around the corner, plus you can obviously hear where the gun fire is coming from.
Not that I care about the kd ratio, but Justin general the game is so much more fun now that I can actually do well. -

Registered 6 years agoHmmm... was just looking at getting a couple of cheap speakers for my TV (which doesn't have a dedicated analogue audio-out, just an optical-out), and it occurred to me that I could plug that Turtle Beach DSS box into the TV via optical and then connect a £25 set of Logitech 2.1 PC speakers into the DSS output. o_O
I cannot find anyone else on the Internet who has done this, but it does seem to be another practical use for that little black box. (Ginormous speakers with an amp would obviously be a preferred TV solution
but I'm just after an improvement on what passes for speakers in the TV) -

Registered 4 years agoThe OH got a pair of Turtlebeach PX5 headphones yesterday. Rather nice they are too, certainly make my humble X11 phones look antiquated. Cost him £99, which strikes me as being cheap? (my X11s were about £70 IIRC, and that was at half price at the eg expo in 2011)
Totally wireless due to built-in bluetooth, simulated 7.1 surround, and fantastic sound quality.
If you want a nice pair of headphones but don't like the ridiculously long cables that TB sets normally come with, give them a look.

Ah, yes, I have one of those lying around too:

But for a 2.1 system, I think the bass control on the DSS will be rather important! Won't be able to play with levels on the TV like I'd be able to on a PC. I doubt the DSS's pro-logic or faux-surround will improve the sound, but it'll be something to play with, too.
Although the more that I think about it... I'd rather get ginormous speakers and dispense with analoguey stuff altogether and have a great home theatre system.
But then again... the sound from the TV is fine, I can hear it, there's no problem, why do I need to upgrade at all..?
Damnit. I'm going to go around in circles for a bit ->

Son of a bitch. I just picked up my X12 headphones and they have broken in the EXACT same way my X11s did.
Turns out you can't leave these things lay down on the table for a day as the joint between the left earphone and the headband will break. They still work, but the left earphone won't stay flush against my head

Registered 7 years agoSo what, you just leave them lying down and they break apart on their own? Bit of a worry as Ive just bought some myself.
They were only like £30 so I thought it would be rude not to.---------------------------------------------------------

Well yeah... I have 2 monitors and I hang them over my 2nd monitor has I only use that when the main monitor is being used for the 360.
My X11s died after I put them on top of my arcade stick on the shelf, this time they were on my desk. In both instances they had been there less than 24 hours and hadn't been touched the entire time.Follow me on Twitter: @MrTom

Registered 5 years agoHi guys. I was thinking about picking up an XP500. However, I can't see a clever way of using these with my PS3 and 360 without having to switch the optical cable every time I switch console. Is there some sort or adapter or convenient solution to this problem?PSN & XBL - crispyduckman
