My DX11 set is still going strong. Only issue I've had with it is that I get some feedback using it on the pc, though that's probably down to the build of my PC than the headsets themselves.

I'd check them out if you want a decent pair of phones that can be used on the consoles as well as on your PC, stereo, etc.

Anyone have any idea what the difference between the X11's and X12's? If they're just the follow up model then I may get them.

No idea mate, though I'd guess the follow up model. Whether the difference in price would be worth it I don't know, though given the excellent quality of the 11s, if they're cheaper I'd just get another pair of them.

I'm using Astro A40 with the 5.8 Mixamp. GREAT stuff! I think I might upgrade to the new A50 soon though, it's fully wireless.

On PS3, yeah. On 360 you'll still have that wire to the game pad. Only the Tritton Warhead is fully wireless.

Well that's the thing, the X11s are £20+ more expensive on the most part. I'm just trying to figure out if that's because they're harder to come by now...

Only if you want to chat. But yes, you're right.
Either way, Astro A40's are extremely comfortable and sturdy with perfect balance of low-, mid- and high-range tones. Tritton sacrifices much of its sound quality because of its heavier bass tones.

X12 are pretty much the follow up model, I got some X12 and they're pretty good although the left cup is starting to deteriorate.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

The X12s have 50mm drivers while the X11s have 40mm. While this does make a tiny (noticeable) difference to the sound quality, and despite the X12s having a bass boost control, I find myself using the X11s whenever I'm gaming for an extended session as I find the X12s start to squish my head after a couple of hours.

If the X12s are cheaper, though, I'd recommend them. They also look cooler!

I've got the X21s, I like them, very comfy and great quality but I'm way too jumpy and will never get used to getting shot from behind or anywhere near at me and I jump at every BANGBANGBANG. lol
The cords a bit annoying but I can deal with it.

X11 have been fine for me for the last 2 years or so. There's a lot of wire, but it doesn't need batteries.

Yeah, I really like my X11s. I've glued them in the hope that'll hold while I make up my mind - which may take a while.

I can't see any reason why they shouldn't as you just plug the L and R phono leads into the same adaptor and power them with the USB plug.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

The Earforce DSS? I managed to snag the last one of those from Bee.com when they were £20. :D It's nice. MORE WIRES. But nice. The bass boost is useful for the X11s, too.

Wait... DSS2?! £54.19 at 101cd at the moment... not a bargain, but if it meets your needs it should allow you to stick with stereo headsets for the foreseeable future instead of paying extra for surround sets, potentially paying for itself (is how you explain it to MrsTom).

This is the thread I was looking for. Don't you love it when that happens!
Just looking at getting a set of X12. I usually listen through the 5.1 set up at home but want something for late night gaming when the nipper is in bed.

Was originally looking at getting a 5.1 set but as I will normally use the speakers at home that seems a bit pointless.

I take it no one has had any real issues with x11/x12 headsets? Worth a punt for £30? Are they bassy enough for a FPS? My normal Sennheiser cans that I use for music are really good for listening to tracks, but seem a bit week when plugged into amp/xbox.

May as well ask in this thread.

Saw in HMV yesterday they had Black Ops 2 plus some Turtle Beaches Earth Force Kilo or something for £80.

Is that good? Have no idea about these headset thingies. And can I use them on my 360 / PS3 / PC / Wii U or are they stuck to one console only?

I got some of these a while back in Asda (living) for £25. I got the impression they were cheap because there was a newer version coming out. Anyway, good headset. I noticed more noises than I did through my tele, but just using standard tv speakers there. Great for games that involve 'conms' chat like battlefield and f1 as well as for actual online chat. I've started using them most times I play now, wherher missus is asleep or not.

I’ve had three sets of various Turtle Beach headsets and my reviews for all of them are more or less the same; great sound quality, great mic, really comfortable and largely user friendly (some of the wireless controls are a little unresponsive, but it’s not a big deal). The differences between versions has been slight in my opinion.

However… they were all made by a blind gibbon with spit, duct tape and wishful thinking. TBs are stupid cheap material and all but my current pair (which are treated like they are made from glass new born babies) snapped somewhere or other pretty much the second the warranty expired. Snapped off can… wired version wire break at the control box… etc…

Titans are no better but have the slight virtue of being a little lighter (well, the one set I tried was) so that pair lasted slightly longer.

I don’t know about the Kilo specifically, but the TB website is generally very clear about what works with what. Usually it’ll say in the package too. As a general rule of thumb, they all work on PC though (mostly).

The X12s have a bass boost dial on them. They're pretty damn comfortable too. Glad I bought them.

I also got the Earforce DSS as they were 30 quid at the expo and that was a good buy too. Turtle Beach get my recommendation.

Someone recommend me a good headset for PS3/PC, please. I have no idea what I should be looking at, except that I'm not bothered if they're wired or wireless. Help!
