    So after finally deciding on what to put into it I finally bought my Alienware Area51 ALX.

    I spent over 4 grand on an Alienware PC a few years ago. I had it for about 8 months before I gave it to a nephew. He seemed quite pleased with it.

    Blimey. Just checked on PC Specialist and (if Andee is right about the money) I just specced a system that will would have saved you at least 500 notes and that would have got you the same CPU, Memory and hard drive space, a much better motherboard/watercooled/far better PSU/a top of the range sound card and 2 5970's in crossfire.

    And a better monitor.

    And a far nicer case.

    And a £250 5.1 speaker system.

    Erm...

    Somebody is proud of their new Ferrari and all you lot wanna do is point out he could have built the kit car version cheaper? Generally people spending 4 grand on a gaming rig are not motivated by value for money. Its total-overkill, no game requires this spec and you could have got a great gaming rig for (much less than) half the price - but that is not really the point is it? Nothing succeeds like excess - congratulations on your INSANE rig pauljeremiah! :)

    Two comments -

    Is it not ridiculously noisy?

    Did you not consider striped SSDs?

    ...and why go for SLI'd 5970s with a 1920x1200 panel? I'd have stuck with one or (if I had the money you seem to) get a bigger screen.

    Not trying to troll - just interested in what motivated you to make the config you did.
