Registered 5 years agoI think £400 is about right for a tablet PC at the moment, considering the dominance of the ipad. But yes, I'd like a good balance between features and price, and if there are cheaper alternatives, I'll look into it. -

Registered 5 years agoAsus have announced the EEE Transformer Prime, for release early December (don't know if this is world wide). Having tried all the various tablets in PC world last week, the Asus Transformer impressed me the most, so a thinner, lighter, faster version with longer battery life sounds promising. -

Registered 10 years agoI've just stumbled across the Transformer Prime. Now do I wait and get one of those or go for the Transformer which is currently selling for £280 on Amazon....5 times the performance for less than twice the price.... -

I picked up one of these for £169 in Currys this afternoon. Although it only has a 7in screen, the proprietary OS is excellent at multi tasking and very slick indeed.
What about the Blackberry playbook? Only a 7" screen, but around £240 for the 16 GB version.
For the price I think it is an excellent piece of kit. -

I was using the playbook this morning and my wife took a shine to it so she offered to buy me a 32gb Sony Tablet S so that she could have it..gif)
Just trying to track down a cheap screen protector and wallet. -

Registered 8 years agowhat on earth is that!? i'd wait for a mate to pop over to the states and grab you a kindle fire, only slightly more expensive especially if its from a low-tax state. -

Registered 8 years agoHave they cut the price of the Sony Tablet S here yet? If not, hold off for a bit - they've been selling like things-that-haven't-been-selling-very-well and they already cut the price in the US. -

Registered 7 years agoI'd be weary of cheap tablets. I got given a Novo 7 Basic for Xmas and you can really tell it's cheap. Before I put ICS/4.0 on it, the graphics driver would crash and display weird green lines on the screen (similar to RROD), the front panel bends when you press buttons/the screen, the apps you can use are very limited, the screen has a weird blurry/noise look that's hard to describe and in general the device is slow and unresponsive. It's ok for simple apps/games (sudoku, word search type things) and some browsing but that's about it... although video displays surprisingly well on it.

I'd wait a few months, think there will be a raft of 1080p tablets this year. -

Registered 6 years agoI have a Playbook. 32gb. Bought it for £199. I don't understand the pricing on this. On the friday it was about £400. Then dropped to £199. And a week later went up to £259. Glad I got it for £199. Have put the developer only OS 2.0 on, and can sideload specially converted Android apps.
If I understand it correctly, the tools that will be provided from this point forward, will make it very easy for Android apps to be converted to run on the Playbook. I think that it the only achilles heel of the Playbook. Shit app marketplace. -

Yea I already have an iPad (not an iPad 2) so I am looking for something a little different that I can tweak and have a bit of fun with. iPad is fine but very limited. -

Registered 9 years agoHold out until MArch and get the iPAd 3.
I'm really no drooling Apple fanboy but I can't see the point of buying anything but an iPad tbh.
What is it you want to tweak? Would a jailbreak be enough? If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Tempted by the Sony one too because of integration with Bravia TVs. -

Registered 8 years agofyi i think there is still no real jailbreak for the ipad 2, so one for ipad 3 is unlikely for a long time. -

Registered 9 years agoTrue. The App icon model is borked. I expect a major overhaul for iOS6.
What about the cmers? The fact that they are a joke on the iPAd 2?If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Pretty much my thoughts it's looking seriously dated and the notification system is archaic. Yes by all accounts the cameras are pretty much a joke.
