Raylan Givens is my favourite tellybox character at the moment.

New season has certainly started strong.

I've watched about the first 4 episodes in series 1 and it seems OK but a bit tame. Does it improve? How long should I give it?
Season 1 is a lot different from the others. More a "monster of the week" show and a lot more light hearted. But if you don't like Rayland and/or the setting in season 1 then chances are you'll never like the show.

I loved it from the get go and was actually a bit sad when it turned into a more "serious" kind of show. But I got over that.

Might I also recommend Longmire for ALL of you.

Season one is a slow burn; but it's more about the setting and characters really. It does get a LOT better.
But as I said if you're not enjoying the setting and it's characters then maybe it's not for you...BUT IT DOES GET BETTER AND IT'S AWESOME.
    This this this THIS!!!

Also, to the person that first recommended Longmire in this thread.  Big thanks.  I've Downloaded them all and sat glued from start to finish.

Not as cracking as episode one. More of a set up piece than the first episode actually.
Great to see Art though. Might be my favourite character (how am I supposed to spell favourite btw?)

What I don't like is Rayland fucking around with the barkeep instead of doing what he should do and look after his offspring. Makes him a cunt in my eyes.

So reign in the cunt! I WON'T HAVE A BAD WORD SAID AGAINST RAYLAND!

Rayland the cunt. Puts his pecker where it don't belong. TWICE now. First time it yielded and off spring. He gone use that as an excuse for fooling around with a barmaid. Hope that brawler breaks his face.

Rayland is up to his knees in pussy (and rightly so) - what's a man to do!?
And if the result is a world full of mini-Raylands then...I can live in that awesome world!

Winona left Raylan remember? And presumably he took the job in the premiere to make some extra money to support his child.

    IDEA!
    I'll write some fan fiction.

Wiona rolled over in bed and wispered in Raylands ear
-Honey, it's you turn to change diapers.
Rayland got out of bed and struck his toe agains the Talking Bear he got from Art at the Baby shower
-"I'm Huggfried the talking bear! Give me a hug!"

Yes but there is no way that so much time has passed that the baby is born; she wasn't that heavily pregnant at the end of season 3.

Rayland picked up the bear and tossed it across the room. He walked over to the crib and pick Arlo Jr up in his strong manly arms.

Winona saw her man cuddle his son in the pale moon light. Gently pressing the little rascal against his clean shaven chest. She was just starting to moist up when Rayland let out a loud fart.

"Maybe it was better when he was a law man..." she thought to herself. Rayland had never quite adjusted to his new job as a security chief at the mall.

So you should wait with saving money till after the baby is born?

Just saw the pilot of "The Following" and it has Natalie Zea in it, so we probably won't see much of her on Justified this season if at all.

If you read the discussion someone mentioned that he should be looking after his kid.
So I assumed that you were also weighing in there. I was pointing out to everyone that the baby is not around yet.

Yeah, season four has started strong. It's one of my favourite things on TV at the moment. Been trying to get some of my work colleagues to watch it but none have yet. :(

    Their loss!

In other news, Rayland's landlady piece is well worth a bone.

I'm a bit confused about the overarching plot though.

Has anyone else seen the latest episode (s04e03)?

How are we on spoilers and pacing in this thread? Is it the standard "US pace no comic/book comparisons" rule?

If the episode has aired in the states feel free to discuss - I'll change the thread title as I don't think anyone watches this in the UK (as in on channel 5).

    Great.

    So the main story.

Some guy falls out of a plane (fall guy) to make it look like another guy (the witness) is dead.
Arlo ends up with the bag and ID of the fall guy and puts it in his wall. Why?
The witness lives on protected by Who?
The bag alone is known in criminal circles and worth killing for Why?
The mob (is it the guy by the pool in S03?) has an FBI agent in their pocket looking for the witness so it isn't either the FBI (killing a guy just for the protection... nah) or the mob that has arrange the disapearance.

So, who is protecting the witness and why is the bag so important?

What makes you think someone is protecting the witness? Could be wrong here, but I got the impression that after witnessing a mob boss murder a federal agent he thought it might be a good idea to get the hell out of dodge and so he faked his own which meant that no-one was looking for him so he didn't need protecting.

The bag had a lot of cocaine in it and the bag not being in police evidence, but in Arlo's wall makes me thinks he nicked it and he probably kept the bag around so that should the mob find out he nicked the cocaine he can give up the info that the guy who witnessed the murder isn't dead after all.

I just assumed someone else helped the witness because the plan is so intricate. Who was piloting the plane? But as you say, the witness might have planed everything on his own.

I guess Rayland will go talk to his dad in the next episode. (Not that he will say anything...)

Think you're mistaken intricate for stupid, seeing as the witness didn't remove the drivers license of the man who was supposed to be him before throwing or sending him out of a plane with a faulty parachute.

So I'm thinking that he stole the drugs from the mob then crashed the plane to make the mob think he had to jump and then died when the parachute wouldn't open with the drugs on him; case closed, if he had removed the guys drivers license. But luckily for him the body landed in Harlan County where probably some crooked cop took the cocaine, bag and drivers license to Arlo or some other criminal so the mob didn't find out that the witness wasn't dead after all.

But I'm probably completely wrong as I usually am when theorizing what's happened/will happen.
