Just wondered if anyone could recommend a battery efficient daily rom for the S4. Gf needs hers rooted but I'm not sure which roms are the go too ones. Thanks
First thing to check is whether the phone is an i9505, or i9500

If it's an i9505 just whack the Google stock rom on it.

If it's an i9500 then I'm not so sure... Been looking into that myself... But nothing I've glanced at on XDA has appealed enough to make me want to loose the Samsung camera app.

Actually you inspired me to have a play with mine.

The Omega 17 Rom is pretty solid for i9500s.

5% for 3 hours standby. Some decent customisation through the Xposed framework.

    Need some help please guys.
I recently bought the Humble audio book bundle for android, downloaded it but have no idea to where? I've got a Nexus 7.
I blindly thought they would work with the Audible app I use, but there seems to be no way of importing the books.

    Any pointers please?

If it's not in Downloads, Download a file explorer if you haven't got one (like ES File Explorer or Astra) and search

It'd be LOVELY if someone could recommend a good audio player to me for Android. I'm fed up with the Walkman player on my Experia.

Poweramp works great for me on a Note 2.

Anther one for Poweramp. A bit temperamental at times but sounds great, extraordinarily customisable and plays anything you throw at it.

A little while ago I downgraded my XPERIA U to Android Version 2.3.7 , because it was malfunctioning with 4.0.4.

Ever since the downgrade, my PC has lost the ability to recognize the phone's memory. When I connect the phone to PC through USB cable, at the moment of plugging , Sony PC Companion shows a little box at the bottom right corner of the screen , giving the message "Wait for the device to get connected" ,
soon after it says "My Sony XPERIA U (ST25) is connected" , but once I click on Launch Sony PC Companion , it shows the connection error with the 4-step guide.

I followed the guide but that didn't do any good.

    Any tips, anyone?

General question about Gmail notifications, via the mobile app - anyone else have the same problem of receiving numerous notifications for certain emails? e.g. my son sent me a photo via Gmail on the 30th of March and twice a day since then, if I check my "All Mail" feed, I see "1 Unread" count and its his email from 8 days ago?! (I obviously mark as read, or read it or delete it, etc). I don't get additional notifications after the initial (first) email is sent - just there as 'un-read'...

Using latest version of KK, N5 hardware, etc - am I missing something with notification set up, either Gmail, or general settings?

    Odd and fucking annoying.

    Thanks

Try displaying them separately and not as part of a conversation?

Ahh, looking at the notification, he sent it via G+ - sooo there are a myriad Notification options with G+, like FaceBook, most don't make sense (other than ALL) - Twitter is so much easier to understand what you get notified on and when...

    - anyone care to breakdown G+ for me please?

    / being needy tonight.

    Cheers

    Create a circle
Post to people in that circle

    Or

    Post to one contact

    Or

    Post to everyone

    Or

Post in a group (basically a circle that you don't control)

    Pretty straight forward.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

@THFourteen Google+ has become my RSS replacement on the phone. And I use it to spam my family with pictures of my sons without bothering others who don't give a shit.

Plus, the image handling is brilliant and the video editing is the best I've used for casual family videos. (I do wish they would add some more songs)

    I find it surprisingly good

I'm reluctant to use Google+ just because of the way Google are forcing it upon us. I already use Facebook. One social network is enough for me.

Ah ok. I use Feedly and greader+

I like it because it downloads full text articles even from sites that dont normally have full text.

Plus feedly makes it really easy to add and organise feeds

    Dumb question time.

If I root my mobile, assuming it goes right, do I lose all the content on it already or is it just treated like a software update?

    Come and get it cumslingers!

Depends on device but usually once you've unlocked the bootloader (precursor to rooting) it tends to wipe the device internal storage. Removable media will be untouched.

a Nexus a day keeps the apple away

Yeah i wouldnt rely on anything being saved. But once its rooted you can titanium backup anything you like to dropbox.

Also i think there is some modicum of android / google backup which brings a few settings back but its nothing like as good as iOS, and i don't know if its samsung ROM only

recommend rooting and romming though. My new ROM has turned my S3 into a brand new device tbh.

How do you get kitkat on a Z1 compact?

Other people with the same phone seem to have it, I go to the update centre bit and nothing under system...

Thanks, I'll back up my G2 before hand.

Was running perfectly before the KitKat update apart from the fact that LG have disabled LTE in their international edition by default for some baffling reason so everytime I restart or the phone goes into a battery saving mode I have to change the setting back to LTE auto. Which is pretty annoying.

On top of that little niggle the Kit Kat update adding a lovely hissing noise to audio playback over the headphones. So I'm going to have to root to get rid of that annoyance anyway.

    Come and get it cumslingers!
