@Murbal Precisely the reason I only buy from Amazon now, if at all possible.

Try something like that with shopto, they'd tell you to fuck off. They even try to weasel out of the 7 day distance selling law.

I'm playing it off and on. It really is a very good HM. There's tons to do and it all works pretty well. However...and this is a big however...the first 30 days act as a tutorial and the game takes its sweet time in explaining all of the many different things you have to do. So you may find the first 4 hours or so a little underwhelming...but after that you're basically left to do whatever you like. Some day's you'll do a little farming and then go straight to bed just to get through the first month quickly. It's not a game to rush through, so take it easy and ensure that you play enough to get past the first 30 days. After that it's great.

@zoolophage Couldn't sound any less appealing. Not much more I dislike than lengthy in game tutorials.

Crikey, that sounds like a long tutorial even by HM standards! At least I have reassurance that it will get better and let me get on with things.

I still think the Gameboy Colour HM was one of my favourites as I loved the top down perspective. The pesky sprites never seemed to give me my equipment back though...

Why do the guys look like they're going to cry at some point during the game?

The tutorial for HM is a killer. Proper "my first video game" stuff. And if you fail to hoard items over the first two seasons (mainly the stuff littering the forest etc, which you'd normally want to sell) you'll be royally screwed over when you're asked to rebuild parts of the town to advance the story/unlock stuff. I was forced to play through autumn/winter with little to do outside repetetive crop/animal chores because I hadn't saved a load of wild flowers to decorate the town with :S

If you play it 'right' though, it's grand.

@Daryoon Thanks for the tips! I'd probably just have sold them if you hadn't said. :)

    Oh, nevermind.

    Just found out by myself.

    Nintendo, Nintendo, Nintendo.

... you really are a clueless company sometimes.

It's a bit like cutting off your arm to treat a papercut. They make a messaging app, then disable one function so it'll only work with StreetPass, also known as "close enough to speak to the persons face, or draw genitals directly on them".

Disabling photos would do. That way you can only send crude doodles at worst. But no, a few naughty idiots and a company terrified of the possible tabloid fearmongering have ruined it for everyone :( They already have Friend Codes to prevent you adding anyone you don't know, they really can't do much more.
  • Deleted user 1 November 2013 20:08:03
@DFawkes apparently the naughty little kids were trading the friend codes online

What good is a Nintendo console if you can't send crude renditions of genitalia to children?!

Did you sell yours after Iwata and co studied penises for a week in order to block said renditions?

When Animal Crossing came out, I saw kids posting their friends codes openly all over the internet and begging others to visit. Sweet but alarming.

Why did they decide to give the option to attach photos to Letter Box in the first place? Are all Japanese 3DS users really that well behaved and innocent that they never saw the obvious problem?

Bravely Default: some of the artwork is really beautiful, but definitely NSFW. The art book is amazing. I just want to know if the game plays well too.

Is it true the Circle Pad Pro can't be used on Kid Icarus for aiming?

I love on rails shooters, but hate touch controls. Find them fiddly and annoying, and my fingers block half the screen.
  • Deleted user 2 November 2013 20:51:59
@rumblesushi that's right, the cpp is used to help lefties. I really like the aiming system on kid icarus and loved the difficulty slider/wager
  • Deleted user 2 November 2013 20:55:35
What is the difficulty slider/wager? And you generally like touch screen controls?
  • Deleted user 2 November 2013 20:57:53
is there a good and trusted amazon store that sells ds games? I;ve never played an a phenoix wright game, and thinking of picking up the very first in the series, but aware that by now there probably a lot of counter fit copies out there.

Counterfeit copies? I wasn't aware of any counterfeit games at all, or that any of them would work on an unmodified machine.
  • Deleted user 2 November 2013 21:01:37
When you start a level you bet hearts that you will finish the level, the more hearts you put in the more you get back but the harder it is. I hated the aiming controls on metriod prime hunters but really liked kid icarus (I'm left handed and don't have a cpp il

It does take s bit of getting used to but once you have it it isa fantastic system and so much quicker then using a stick to aim
  • Deleted user 2 November 2013 21:24:07
OK, cheers, maybe I'll give it a try anyway as I do like the look of it.

How likely do you think it is that the XLs will drop in price soonish, like January? Not sure whether to buy one now or wait.
  • Deleted user 2 November 2013 21:25:46
They. Have been going up and down like a yoyo if you can wait I would but 2013 is most definitely the 3ds's year

I got a preowned from Game with a started kit and Pokemon X/Y for 170.

It might go down for Christmas, is that a thing that ever happens?

I've only just seen the price for the Collector's Edition of Bravely Default. The extras look nice but gosh, three times the price. Definitely can't ask for that on my birthday list!
