Bit disappointed that Hometown Story has been getting mediocre (6/10) reviews. I had high hopes that it'd be the start of an interesting new series. Seems it's out in the usa but no idea about uk release.

If anyone's interested in nabbing a freebie 3DS Myst download (despite getting godawful reviews), go here and follow the instructions:

Excellent, and do you think the game works just as well on the small screen?

3DS XL froze twice yesterday when I woke it up from sleep (power clearly on, screens wouldn't come on)... First time ejecting the cart and faffing around with the wireless switch got it working, second time? Nothing. Lights on, no-one home.

Unscrewed the back (proper phillips heads! Yay!)and took out the battery. Left it for a few minutes...

Now it's fine; I had to restart the download I was performing at the time but it's working ok - quite fearful now though that it'll happen again :-(

Yep, it's as brilliant as ever - easily the best version of the game considering the graphical upgrade, and touchscreen use. You also get the Master Quest in there too, remember.

Also, the XL screen isn't exactly small. :p

Quite fancy a 3 or 2DS - is the 3DS XL worth £50 (1.5x) more than the 2DS? The fact you can't fold the 2DS doesn't bother me as it'd just go in a rucksack that's plenty big enough. If you switch off the 3D, is that the advantage of the XL gone?

edit - oh, the 2DS's screens are smaller. Still, the question stands :)

Unless you absolutely can't afford it, I reckon it's best to go for the XL. That way at least you have the option of 3D.

It may be a gimmick and all, but it really does make most games look a lot better.

@monkman76 I had a little go of a 2ds the other day, its a lot smaller than I thought and was actually more comfy than I thought it would be. I liked it.
The thing I don't like most about the 3DS is I seem to lose the effect as soon as I move off centre, which spoils the immersion for me.

Not sure how something like Mario 3d land would fair in 2d

I'd defo go for the 3ds only for having the option.

Has anyone seen the Bravely Default collectors edition? Pricing was just announced. It's a hundred pounds.

Exactly! Don't know why I'm not cancelling my preorder to be honest.

Well, I do know. Game still looks bloody lovely regardless :-(

From the link you posted, it does sound like it's just something to make bosses easier. It does still leave a bit of a bad taste though.

But the game looks glorious, so...

I think I'll be ordering from Game as they're offering a free art book with it.

Are they? Doesn't look to be any indication of that from the site...

ShopTo have just knocked £20 off the BD limited ed. I can't imagine that the original price was a placeholder, as before it went up they said they were awaiting final details before listing it.

Scanning this month's ONM for 3DS stuff. Not a lot that we don't know already: Pokemon X/Y (good), Ace Attorney (good), Prof Layton (good but tired), Sonic Lost World 3ds (scored 79...seems average),

Final Fantasy Curtain Call trailer. Not new, but first I've heard of it. Looks fun for a rhythm game.

Do you subscribe to ONM? I've checked every shop in my area and it's definitely not in yet. They still have last months in. I know people give them a hard time, but they're really not as bad as they once were.

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

I'm going to have to do this - over the last few weeks every couple of days the 3DS XL just turns off despite having a full battery. Then says it's the first of Jan 2011 etc.

Good stuff, it makes me very tempted to get an XL.

What touch screen stuff is in there?

Unfortunately the XL screen seems to be as crap as the 3ds, based on these pics. Washed out with awful viewing angles. Why they couldn't use a screen as good as the Gamepad screen I don't know. I'll see for myself I guess, if I don't like it I can take it back.
