I was thinking of getting a new DS and doing some online stuff with Pokemon, do you have to cough up extra for Nintendo's online features?
    As in Xbox live?

As far as i am aware online with Nintendo is free

They've invested pretty heavily in DLC this gen though. I don't know of any online features that require DLC, but they've integrated it into the system software now, and will keep pushing new downloadable content at you via system notices and vids and things. Although you can configure most of those things off.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Gamestop. Cost me 280, but got a accessory pack and charger too.

I'm sure I could have gotten it slightly cheaper but feck it, I'm impatient!

Now, if only the bloody thing would finish charging!

I just bought resident evil revelations on the eshop. Didn't realise how big the download is, currently trying to download it over 3G :(

It's about 10 cheaper on Amazon for the same products but 20 if you buy it in Sterling. So you didn't do too badly considering some of the prices in Gamestop.

Oh great. Seems my XL is bricked out of the box. When I tried to do a System Update, the bar would get so far before 'an error has occurred' asking me to restart the machine. Now after trying a few things, as soon as I try Update, I get a black screen telling me to hold down the power button and restart.

    Feck sakes.

Edit: Swapped it for a brand new XL this morning and it updated fine.
    Bah, my buy-new-console-day was ruined!

What's the likelihood that Nintendo will released a re-designed XL in the near future?

Quite slim I would have thought, it's only 15 months old. I reckon they are more likely to tart up the original a bit, better memory card, price drop etc.

There's been a lot of crap hitting the eShop lately. I wonder if it'll have an impact on the sales on the genuinely decent games that go up from time to time.

so they will make it that bosses are unbeatable unless you use sp and that means if you dont want to wait a day or two to play the game you must pay - Game has instantly left my wish list - bastards

Yay! Who wants to actually play the games they've purchased anyway. In all seriousness, the fact this currency can be generated using sleep mode sort of makes up for it to an extent, maknig paying up just a way to speed things along.

But, as Grax says, if the game is designed to be purposefully difficult enough to pretty much force you to use them, they can piss off. Micro-transactions shouldn't be altering game design. Not that they are, as I'm sure they wouldn't be that stupid. I hope :p

So hold on. Do you absolutely need to keep your 3DS on, in sleep mode, in order to progress through the game without forking out your own money?

I'm hoping grinding may alleviate the problem; the 'feature' in question just seems to prevent the enemy from attacking back...

Anyone after a 2DS, at all? Tesco are doing them for 99.99 instore and on Direct:

    http://www.tesco.com/direct/nintendo-2ds-black-blue/140-9616.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=140-9616

    http://www.tesco.com/direct/nintendo-2ds-white-red/604-4095.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=604-4095

ETA: Worth waiting until tomorrow, apparently Argos are rumoured to be doing it for the same price bundled with two games.

Damn price of 3DS XL. Was looking to buy one in town today but Game and HMVs prices as usual are stupid.

Don't want the white one ! Is it to much to ask to buy a red or blue 3ds xl with mario 3d And luigi mansion for 200 ??

What framerate does the OOT remaster run at? The original runs at 20, so if this one runs at 30 or even 60, I'd consider picking up an XL to play it.

The Argos deal is now up, but it's for 2 DS games. OK, you don't have 3D capability, but the 2DS still has the processing power of the 3DS...

    1) Get the Lego Lord of the Rings game and the Moshi Monsters Katsuma Unleashed game free when you buy a selected Nintendo 2DS console. Offer ends 29 October 2013.
