I am loving my XL compared to the normal 3DS I had before. The hinge is still a bit wobbly but the feel of the console in your hands is so much more pleasant. The rounded sides is a factor but just by making it bigger it feels "right". The normal 3DS is too small to feel comfortable.

Having bigger screens makes a world of difference. Games with crowded/small graphics are a joy to behold and those with lot's of detail reveal themselved to be more beautiful than you thoyght they were.

As for downloadable games I just completed Mighty Switch Force which is one of the best 2D platformers I've ever tried. As a bonus, the 3D effect is the best I've seen in any 3DS game. Shantae, another 2D platformer by the same developer, is also very good.

I want an XL. Can't really justify trading the regular for it though...

Upgraded to the XL on Monday ... Street Fighter 4 is now genuinely playable (as in I can actually use the d pad without experiencing pain after a few minutes) and it looks great on the bigger screen. Mario 3D land also benefits the bigger screen, although there are some noticeable jaggies. I can deal with that -- I regularly play ps2 and wii on an hd tv so I guess I'm used to them. The overall feel of the console is better too, higher quality. Weirdly the screen is a slightly different colour to the old 3DS, maybe a tiny bit dimmer too. I noticed when doing the system transfer ... a little sepia tinted(?). Don't notice it whilst playing. So yeah, worth the upgrade for anyone sitting on the fence (especially if you're gonna sell the original 3DS afterwards).

Forgot to add -- for some reason it's much harder to use the 3D feature on the XL. The sweet spot is somehow smaller than the old one. Annoying

Ninty said there is nothing they can do about my ambasador games being lost due to game being dicks and telling lies to me and saying you can transfer the system by using my old 3ds sd card.

On the plus side I'm using my 3ds loads now as its more comfortable to use. Bought Ethiran Odyssey which seems to be cool but very difficult. I also picked up the original art academy last night and ended up playing it for hours. I'm just doing the art lessons but it's a great wee program and I'm pleased with my drawings so far....well most of them

Damn! I had hoped that, since there was a system in place for people that had bought their 3DSes before the Ambassador cut-off but not been online, they could just use that to add them for you. I'm guessing that system is offline now though, whatever it was.

Does anyone own the official 3DS Headset? I really like the look of it and the microphone should become handy as time goes on (as well as for Heroes of Ruin just now), but obviously if the sound quality is really appalling I wouldn't buy them. £15 in my local ASDA, which seems to be the cheapest I've seen.

Here's the stuff I'd be interested in off that list. Surprised that Castlevania got delayed to 2013, but at least it'll give them more time to polish it.

Unchained Blades looks good though, I'm glad that wizardry-style dungeon crawlers are back in fashion, and it's not like we'll see Beyond the Labyrinth or Etrian Odyssey IV anytime soon.
Maybe Ghostlight will pick it up.

Stick with it munki83! EO games are always tough at the start as you have few HP, and poison and sleep spells will be the death of you. As your party gains skills and MP, your options increase and you can survive longer in the forest. Also, if you think you'll enjoy them, EOIII is the best of the series IMO, unfortunately it is now starting to go for crazy money like EOII- it's less than 2 years old, bizarre. Dem Atlus print runs...

Is there any list somewhere with the number of save slots on any particular cartridge? I wish it was more consistent as I'm cheap and don't fancy buying multiple carts if I don't have to now that we've a third 3ds in the house.

Three per cart would be a fair amount but I may be biased. :)

Don't think so, it's not really something that's all the constant. You'd be best to ask for each game, unfortunately.

Should anyone want to know, I ended up buying the headset, and it's quite nice. Feels sturdy enough and good sound quality. Mic is about the same quality as the built in one, but as it's closer to your face it's a little clearer.

It's brilliant. More comfortable to hold and it's a joy to play with screens big enough for you to enjoy all that the games throw at you.

I love mine, it's much easier to play with my monster adult hands.
If you do go for a system transfer I highly recommend you get a card reader (they are less than 2 quid) and back up the SD card to PC first, just in case.

I'm quite looking forward to the expo for that. Wonder how many I'll get?

Just got hold of Bit Trip Saga. Only tried out Bit Trip Beat so far, but my initial impression is Aargh! Serious eye strain trying to focus on the 3D, and serious hand cramps trying to hold the console and a stylus at the same time. I'll need to try using the Kid Icarus stand and turning off 3D after I've had enough of a rest to recover.

In terms of the controls, using the circle pad seems almost impossible. It's quick enough so you can get to the top and bottom quickly, but getting to three quarters of the way down from the top is a definite skill, and way harder than it was on the Wii. The stylus control is a little easier than the Wii controls on the other hand, cramps notwithstanding. There was a definite learning curve on the Wii, learning what precise orientation corresponded to what exact position on screen, and programming your hands to make the required moves at the right time, so it felt more like a traditional rhythm action game. With the stylus it's just far more mechanical. Still, at least the core game is intact, and it's still fun to play.

Hopefully Bit Trip Runner has survived the transition more intact. That alone should be worth the 20 quid I paid.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

I managed 46 or 56 from last year's expo. I did remember to empty the queue. It became addictive. Had to give up on the puzzle pieces in the end though, otherwise i'd have missed all the games on show.

    3DS: 4210 4002 8289 (Dave)
    Wii U: Raiko87
    Xbox Live: Raiko87
