Can't believe I didn't back it up beforehand, what a twat!

When the system restarted, from memory it just went to the home screen with no prompt, which is why I didn't think about sticking in the SD card. Ah well, downloaded all the old content now and luckily my saved games have survived (except Pullblox) so could be much worse!

I'll be honest, I haven't done it at all as I haven't transfered. I've only had experience with swapping SD cards and that's easy business. I'm not trying to mislead or confuse you, so apologies if thats the case.

Some bad news - my XL has developed a fault on the top screen. A nice big vertical line running through the whole screen. Going to transfer the data back to my old 3DS then return it for an exchange. Grrrrr!

Ninty will fix it for you Cheese.

They did my 3DS standard. It only took abolut 5 days. For all the hassle of transferring I'd send it to Ninty if it were me.

    @jonsaan
It's still under the retailers 28 day warranty so would seem silly not to get a new one. I don't mind reverse transferring for the sake of it.

Be warned that you can only do a transfer once every 7 days.

Don't you only get 5 transfers? I'd rather not use one up.

@Ignatius_Cheese Ah ok. Good luck. Massive bummer. I am jealous of your new toy though.

28 days warranty? Wow, I feel spoilt now. In my country by law all electronics have two years warranty.

It's more like a 28 day 'no quibble' warranty. The current legislation guarantees a warranty that covers any returns due to original design flaws for an unspecified period - often assumed to be 12 months, but for those sort of claims you tend to need to get a bit arsey about it.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

My 3DS XL screen is a touch wobbly when opened all the way. Is it just me?

My (small/original) 3DS screen was rather wobbly right out the box. For some reason I'd assumed they all were. Guess not?

The XL screen is still slightly wobbly but nowhere near as wobbly as the original 3DS.

Good news - my broken XL is being collected tomorrow and I should have a replacement by Monday.

Got a standard 3DS cheap recently. Really liking it to my surprise. Played for hours on VVVVV and Pull Blox. Not bought any full fat games as yet. Any recommendations (bar OOT which is obviously a given)?

One title (although I'd never buy it) that really impressed was the Rayman: Origins demo. It's stunning and a really effective use of 3D I thought.

Battery life sucks though - although at the very least recharge time is extremely quick.

Pilotwings is worth it if you can find it for less than 20. Kid Icarus and Resident Evil are worth your money too.

Like hell it is! Where's the story mode, variety in gameplay?

As much as I like Thearhythm, Rhythm Thief is soooooo much better.

I'm feelnig more positive since they emailed me back. They asked me for store details so I got the receipt and lo and behold my old 3ds s/n is on there. So Ninty have my old s/n and my new one and the story of how it all happened. I still need to get my letter to game sent off but been busy with work this week so will do that on Saturday.

Good and good! Hope you get them restored. The Etrian Odyssey games are great fun and completely addictive in my opinion so I'd be interested to hear how you find it.

So the people who had the original 3DS what are your thoughts on the XL version?

I did have the original on release but couldn't get away with how it felt in my hands plus the hinge was wobbly as hell.

Looked at a few you tube vids and it looks huge in comparison, really tempted at picking one up. Plus so many more games to choose from too

Is there any downloadable titles worth getting too?
