My 3ds is my main go to gaming machine. It's lovely coming home from work to sit on the sofa with a cup of tea while doing some Animal Crossing.

The library is quite large as there are some excellent ds games. I'm trying to get hold of Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow as that looks excellent.

I think Dawn of Sorrow been confirmed for the Wii U Virtual Console, so might have to put it on my radar. I'm becoming quite a fan of Castlevania at the moment, though i've only played the original four.

Oh yeah. I might as well put it in this thread. If anybody else bought Mutant Mudds on the eShop, there is now a second free update that contains yet another 20 levels.

Go for Order of Ecclesia too. The pixel art of it stands up the best on a 3DS, it still looks gorgeous whereas the ghosting behind the main character on DoS usually puts me off for an hour or so until the music and gameplay draw me back in!

DoS is probably the best of the three DS ones though, you can't really go wrong with any of them.

Looks like the Harvest Moon series is being rebranded in the west:

Two new games to look forward to. Although could be ages before the UK/EU release.

Hey guys I'm thinking of picking up a 3ds but can't decide on a 2ds or a 3ds xl.. seeing as amazon have the 2ds for 80 and is a pretty cool deal....but at the same time the xl is bigger and has 3D. Now mind you I have used the 3D but found it average at best but might lose some of its appeal when playing games such as mario 3d.

I love my XL screens but when the price difference is by 70 then it gets me thinking...

Does anyone own a 2ds? What are your thoughts on it

I own both the XL and 2ds and they are both great machines for different reasons. The XL has a real quality feel to it, and the attention to detail i.e the engraved lettering and curved edges are really cool. Plus some games such as 3D World do benefit from the 3D but it is by no means a deal breaker. The 2ds however is more comfortable to use in my opinion. I've got average size hands and it just feels natural to have ur thumbs to the side of the screen. Although it's light, it too has a solid feel about it, and the viewing angle also feels great as it's all on one plane as oppose to the angled 3ds/XL. Anyhow they are both smart consoles, but if I had to choose one now I'd go for the 2ds and buy extra games, Enjoy choosing!

    @DizzyMan66

Thanks for your input. I'm a big fan of the zelda franchise so does playing the new zelda in 2d lose any of its appeal ?

The new Zelda makes good use if the 3D in an early dungeon with Link jumping out of the screen, but to be honest once you've seen it a few times you'll probably switch the 3D off. I know I do as I prefer the sharper more retro look of the game. The designers obviously spent a good deal of effort to ensure the game looks lovely in 2d aswell. It really takes me back to alttp, which is fine by me!
To be honest the only games that I play exclusively in 3D are fallbox/pushbox. Some games look worse in 3D i.e NSMB2 which just adds a blurred effect to the background. In general most games have a sharper look to them when the 3D is not used.

@DizzyMan66 hmmm interesting. Seems like it's a hard decision trading a cheaper 2ds to the more expensive one. If the 2ds had a XL variant I would be jumping on that but I guess the cheaper model is always the easier purchase. The thing with the 3ds is that it cost quite a lot compared to a vita or even a wii U.

Thanks for your input but will think a little more

Only way to keep a game is to transfer it to a new system, the games are locked to the system not your account.

Morning, any of you folks have young kids and could recommend some games that might not only suit a 5 year old girl but also not be totally shite like most kiddie games are?

My 4 year old (boy) is having great fun with Mario 3d land (3d turned off); have you tried her with that? If not - Animal Crossing, naturally.

Another good call. I forgot that I have Animal Crossing as a digital download on the 3ds and I THINK I might have a copy of Mario 3D Land knocking around though that might be a bit tough for her.

The Simpsons game, Sponge Bob Truth or Sqaure, not 3d but very fun all the same. Hello Kitty 3d

Kid Icarus is an amazing game, but it's really hard to recommend. The only real negative I can give the game is it's controls. You move Pit with the analog slider and aim with the stylus and touch screen. Obviously that means you're supporting the 3DS with just one hand and that can quickly cause cramp. If you've played Metroid Prime Hunters before, you know exactly what to expect.

It's a shame that there isn't a demo available because if you can find a way to play it that is comfortable for you, it's genuinely one of the best games i've played in years. It's definitely one the 3DS's very best games. It's a cross-breed between a 3rd-person shooter and an on-rails shooter and is jam-packed with content (both single player and multiplayer). It also has an entertaining narrative that plays out continuously, while you play. I loved every minute of it.

    Wii U: Raiko87 (Dave)
    Xbox Live: Raiko87
