I really enjoyed Attack of the Friday Monsters, too. Very charming. It lasted around 4 1/2 hours for me, but that was because I went card collecting. Never got them all, though.
It's in the Level 5 sale which started today, so I've just bought it on the cheap. Not started it yet though.

Just downloaded Attack of the Friday Monsters as couldn't say no at sale price. I was tempted by Aero Porter as well during the last sale. Anyone able to recommend it?

How long is the sale on for? Quite tempted by Attack of the Friday Monsters.

    By 23 Feb, IIRC.

I've downloaded Crimson Shroud. Never got around to buying it back in the day, thanks to the backlog of games that was building up at the time. I'm still looking at Liberation Maiden, AeroPorter and The Starship Damrey, but i'm not entirely won over by any of them, to be honest. Any opinions would be most welcome!

Just in case anyone missed it, Steel Diver: Sub Wars was released last night after the Nintendo Direct. It's free to play the first 6 missions, plus you can play online as much as you want with the 2 free subs (one unlocked by the missions).

If you want the other 15 missions (5 sets of 3) or any of the rest of the subs, you'll have to pay £8.99 for the upgrade.

The one thing I didn't expect was for the 5 special purchasable ships all to require the Premium upgrade first. I'd already have happily bought a couple of subs if it'd let me.

I'm still really enjoying multiplayer though, but I'd try it sooner rather than later as people will start unlocking big subs soon.

I've downloaded it, but yet to try it. Can you easily find friends online?

No idea, there seem to options for worldwide or continent, then random or skill matched. I didn't look for any friend option, but I can't remember passing them.

    Aero porter is fucking awful.

The only good guild games are attack of the friday night monsters and crimson shroud. And neither of those are particularly amazing.

Aero Porter is genius. It's a hard-as-nails puzzle game that will really tests your ability to juggle as much stimulus as possible at once. It's one of the most glorious of the Guild games, most of which are great, particularly Attack of the Friday Night Monsters and Crimson Shroud, which are amazing.

    Please understand.
After giving those games on sale a really close look (reviews, opinions, videos, pics) I have to agree. None of them seem like a "real" game to me, more like "apps" IYKWIM.
I'd rather replenish my funds and buy something, er, longer lasting.

It's the Game Boy Colour version, that included Lost Levels, Mario Bros, a mode where you have to race Boo, a Challenge Mode where you hunt for hidden things, and some other bits and bobs.

What was the criteria to get free Super Mario Deluxe exactly? Surprised I didn't meet it obliviously.

I think it was just linking/creating a Nintendo Network ID on the 3DS for the first time...

Cheers! Good job I spotted this last night and managed to get it (Friday Monsters) on the last day of the sale.

Update your 3DS, then sign in with your Nintendo NetworkID or create one before January 31st 2014. If eligible, you should get it sent to the e-mail address cassocked with your NNID by Friday. If not and you did obliviously qualify yourself (which is possible given it's just the update, really), contact them ASAP as it'll take a while to sort out.

The only thing you might miss out if if you didn't know was completing the NNID sign-up process by following the link in the confirmation email sent to the email address indicated during the registration.

    @DFawkes

Thanks. Not sure when I linked my (already created) NNID to my 3DS, pretty sure I did shortly after Jan 31st unfortunately. Oh well.

I should be eligible, they even sent me a message to that effect a few weeks back. No game to date though. :/ Can't be bothered to contact them.

Looks like i've missed out on this deal too. No email from Nintendo at all. I was linking an existing NNID to the 3DS and did so on the very day of the update.

I find it totally unplayable due to the zoomed in view. Bit disappointing.

It's easily my favourite Game Boy Colour game. It's pretty much 2 games in one, plus the Challenge mode adds hours to the playtime, and the race mode really is a bit tricky. Sure, the camera takes a little getting used to again, but once you do it's the definitive SMB1 experience. I'd have happily paid for it if they hadn't given it away for free :)

My only gripe is the pseudo-achievement style sticker book isn't completable as it requires multiplayer so you'll be at least 2 short. However, I'll be lucky if I ever finish Challenge Mode so I'll always be a good few short anyway! Defeating 8-4 Bowser with fireballs on my old GBC was one of my proudest gaming achievements when I was younger, as you don't get any power ups on the last couple of levels so one hit and that's it, no sticker for you.

Anybody here completed Crimson Shroud? There doesn't seem to be a thread for it and I'm stuck./embarrassed
    /deleted
Never mind that, I found the solution on GameFAQs.
Pretty obtuse, I'm now even more inclined to abandon the game.
It gives no hints as to how to find the key, how stupid.

Also, Ridge Racer 3d. 55% complete and the AI starts to be really annoying. They keep overtaking me all of a sudden, why don't they behave like before? If this is Namco's idea of a challenge I might abandon it as well./grumpy

I think I've got stuck WAY earlier in Crimson Shroud. Similar situation, where no room seems to advance the story. It's sort of more like a Fighting Fantasy book in game form rather than a game in itself. Can't see me sticking with it, though I've mostly been on the excellent Bravely Default as my RPG of choice. At least it has objective markers so you don't get lost in a few tiny rooms.

As for Ridge Racer, haven't they always been like that, pretty much? Cheap AI later on seemed to be the order of the day as far as I can remember, though I never played it all that much. I'm fairly sure some reviews picked up on that. Seems difficult to get StreetPass hits for too, as I've never had a single hit so far and I've had plenty for games you'd not expect to have sold as well, such as Asphalt 3D, Lego Pirates/Harry Potter and Samurai Warriors.

@DFawkes Thx for sharing your thoughts. RR was my most favourite racer of the PSP era, I remember completing it at least twice :).
I think the AI in that was a bit less annoying, only the very last few races were really hard (those one-on-one, er, ones).
Not to say this 3d version is a bad game, I was actually really enjoying it up to this point. I might try to struggle with it a bit longer.
I'm glad you enjoy Bravely Default, I didn't like the demo at all. Not my cup of tea, sorry.
I'll wait maybe another year till Etrian Odyssey 4 goes on sale. That's the only RPG in current offer I find interesting, sadly.
