Easy mistake to make, on a few occassions I've received more, highest being 16. No idea why but I have.
If you're basing that 16 on viewing the total from one day to the next, it's possible you still had more to earn the previous day, after viewing, and then earned the rest on that next day.

I have considered writing to Nintendo, suggesting that, if they don't want to go completely nuts, to give 1 coin for every 100 steps (as it presently is), then 1 coin for every 200 steps and then finally 1 coin for every 300 steps for a grand total of 30 per day maximum. 10 coins per day made sense, when you only had StreetPass Quest and Puzzlepieces (is that the right name?), but with StreetPass Quest II and the other downloadable StreetPass games it could really do with more, as well as raising the maximum amount you can save. Some of those games can wipe out 300 coins very quickly, without really gaining very much to show for it.

Anyone know what's due to be released 3ds wise in the next few months? Seems we're in a bit of a quiet period right now. The new Kirby (which looks great), the new Yoshi (which looks terrible) and Mario golf are coming but as far as I know there are no firm dates. No idea about any other notable, indie or 3rd party games, though.

@YenRug I always get my full 10 if I have it with me, even if it means a few steps around the house. Have just every now and then got a few extra I shouldn't have. Could be carried over though as it's only about once a week I take it with me.

Follow me on Twitter @MikeRockavitch ... from a distance of course ... No fat chicks ...

Shovel Knight's coming out in March.

Seran Kagura Burst is also coming out at this end of the month. While the whole.. "style"... of the game is questionable for any male over the age of 15. It's still supposed to be a pretty good game.

Shin Megami Tensei IV will be out at some point this year.

Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright comes out at the end of March I think.

I thought so. I assumed it was Nintendo taking over the publishing for EU since they mentioned it in one of their Directs. But.. Just looking over it, I can't seem to find who the publisher is.

There are few solid dates for the 3DS this year. To be honest, i've been expecting it. After the megaton of games we've been treated to over the past two years, and with the massive Wii U software drought, it was inevitable Nintendo would shift their focus.

As far as my research suggests, these are all due before April.

    1001 Spikes (eShop)
    AeternoBlade (Retail)
    Kirby: Triple Deluxe (Retail)
    Moon Chronicles (eShop)
    Retro City Rampage DX (eShop)
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse (eShop)
    Siesta Fiesta (eShop)
    Treasurenaughts (eShop)
    Yoshi's New Island (Retail)

Not a great deal if you're one to avoid buying digital on Nintendo platforms. However, there's plenty of big names on the way over the full year.

Hopefully we see Dragon Quest VII, too!

Shovel Knight and Shantae for me, I'm more excited about them than any of the upcoming retail releases this year unless SMT or DQVII get announced for us.

Having said that, my backlog is ridiculous even though I've made a concerted effort to finish 3ds games in the last few months.

Just picked up Prof Layton and Miracle Mask for 15 in Sainos. Seems a bargain as Amazon has it for 25.

I really liked the look of Aeturnoblade until I tried the demo, am interested to see what reviewers make of the full game.

The demo seemed a bit under-developed, didn't it? It feels to be lacking polish. It got my attention though. I was just browsing through the demo section of the eShop. I didn't even know it existed until I got to it (it was the very last demo in the list).

Yeah, I thought it had some really nice ideas, but they weren't well explained and the controls felt a bit floaty.

Would really love a Kirby Triple Deluxe release date, It's already been out in Japan since January, looks better than Yoshis Island.

I think i'm going to finally purchase Retro City Rampage. I'd been holding out for a possible Wii U version, but I don't think that'll come around any time soon.

I can't believe the guy has been working on this project for 12 years. I remember reading up on the 'Grand Theftendo' whilst I was at school.

@Raiko101 good luck with that. I was super psyched for that game. I just found it massively underwhelming.

It's less that a fiver on Amazon if you prefer a cart, which is really reasonable too. It might feel like an expanded mini-game early on, but at that price, like Raiko says, it's great fun and is really replayable.
    Nice - ordered. :)
So, I've played about 30-45 mins of Mercenaries now. Quite like it in short bursts. It seems like you definitely need to use melee attacks in order to gain those extra bursts of 5 sec.

Based on a previous recommendation, I also picked up Ghost Recon - just playing through the intro mission now... Seems OK so far, but I reserve judgement till I'm a bit further in.

Not as nice as I used to be

Ah, Alastair, Ghost Recon definitely picks up later on. I quite like the mission variety you get in the game, and the extra skills the units pick up gives you gradually more options

The characters and their dialogue don't improve though.. They'll always be the sterile pack of stereotypes they are, bless 'em!

Sounds like it will be one of those times where I come to appreciate the dialogue in games like Fire Emblem, where I didn't realise it at the time.

    Good grief!

... played (and completed) Attack of the Tokyo Monsters today.

What an utterly charmingly brilliant game! It may well only last two hours or so, but those two hours flew by and I couldn't get enough of it. A perfect 'short but sweet' game indeed.

I really enjoyed Attack of the Friday Monsters, too. Very charming. It lasted around 4 1/2 hours for me, but that was because I went card collecting. Never got them all, though.

It really evoked the wonder and fleeting nature of childhood and discovering the world (or something like that). Golden days, treasured memories and all that.

Any hints that the 'So many games' promo will return this year? There's so much good stuff coming to 3DS March to May, and the promo definitely prompted me to buy the games I wanted on release day last year.

It's possible. I'm not sure this year is going to compare to last years big hitters, but if they're really wanting to push less-popular gaming series onto people, it would be a good idea.
