    I like it.
Same one that I was going to link to, use it myself as well; although it doesn't mention the 3DS XL, it does fit it perfectly.

Makes sense. I'm using an old DSlite case for my 3DS.

...and the first 'official 3DS' case I bought for my DS phat. Go figure.

Yeah I saw, still no biggie, I only paid £99 for it with animal crossing so very happy...I have enough to keep me busy over Christmas (and more importantly over all the relative visiting ;))

@ZuluHero That's not bad at all! There are some excellent games on the 3DS, so enjoy! I already have a backlog /o\

Still a bit of a bugger you couldn't get the Mario download though - I got it last week and I've had my 3DS since launch (luckily, I hadn't bothered to register it).

I updated the OS yesterday but decided not to create an NNID. My Wii U should be coming tomorrow, so I'll create one on there and then sign into that on the handheld.

Anybody else making use of Miiverse on 3DS? It's making me want to dig out some of the older games again. I forgot how great Super Mario 3D Land looked. Especially compared to 3D World. That and just looking at the screen shots of Pilotwings brings back some great launch memories.

I love it. Some really talented artists on it.
Plus, we keep making the need known for an EU SMT 4 release, and that's a very good thing.

What kind of lead is the 3DS XL charger?

... can I use my micro-USB charger that I use for my Kindle and Lumia phone?

    Ta!

On day in the future everything will use the same charging method, then I'll be able to dump all the many and varied chargers I have lying around.

So you mean everyone except Microsoft and Apple?  those two companys do seam rather resistant to standard  USB. Atleast the WiiU Pro Controller is standard.

Known as 'Sharzam' in 98.5% of games

That was my choice too - didn't expect much given the price, but it's fantastic: sturdy, little pouches for three carts in a nice safe flap, keeps the 3DS XL safe as houses. Amazing value!

EDIT: Should've read on - seems my endorsement is not needed! :p Still, for anyone out there, get one - you won't regret it.

Anyone care to name their 3ds game of the year? I'm going to have to vote for Animal Crossing, a game that although I've put 70 hours into it, just keeps on giving. It really is the most wonderfully realised version yet.

I also have to give an appreciative nod in the direction of Luigi's Mansion, a game that despite its long delayed released is full of character and many lovely little touches. I haven't had a chance to really try fire emblem and haven't yet played the new Zelda, Mario and Luigi or Bravely Default. What a difference from 2 years ago when it looked like the 3ds was all washed up.

    Edit: phone jiggery pokery

Not played anything long enough to qualify. I've loved what I've played of Fire Emblem, Etrian Odyssey IV, Devil Survivor Overclocked & Monster Hunter though.

Can't bear to think of Animal Crossing. That's been played for upwards of 275 hours on my 3DS - of which about 10 is me. Really not my cup of tea, but the kids (and my wife up to a point) have loved it.

I had to buy my wife a 3ds and her own copy of AC to stop her hogging mine. Also had to get her the new Harvest Moon as well, which, btw, is a great game...once you get past the 5 hour tutorial.

For me, Fire Emblem was my 3DS game of the year. If you ask my wife and kids, I guess they'll say Animal Crossing :) Luigi's Mansion is our runner-up.

Now that the holidays are coming I'm planning to finally dig into Monster Hunter :D

I'd probably have to say Animal Crossing as well. 210 hours of pure enjoyment and i'm still not done with it. I'm pretty sure I was genuinely addicted at one point!

Luigi's Mansion 2 was brilliant as well. It kinda has this Metroid vibe about it, which I really like. I've not played enough of Fire Emblem though, as my girlfriend has been hogging that one since August.

Between Zelda and Fire Emblem. I think FE edges it though because that could easily be my desert island game. Also Henry.

How many hours does it take to complete Fire Emblem? (excluding dlc). I try to play only 1 or 2 games at a time, as if I put something down for a while I often might as well totally restart due to forgetting the controls and story.

Animal Crossing has to win, by virtue of losing nearly 300 hrs to it O_o
    Closely followed by LM2.

I hadn't checked in on my town for a couple of months, last night found in my absence I'd lost one resident, gained another, my town is still considered 'perfect' and now the place is covered in snow and Christmas lights, in case anyone else hasn't checked their town for a while.

@zoolophage - It took me about 100 hours to complete FE (not including the numerous times I had to reset because I lost someone - No one gets left behind ;)). And that was on Normal/Classic difficulty.

Christmas is great in AC. Toy Day is coming and there's snowmen to build, snowflakes to catch and the house to be decorated with Jingle themes items. Good times.

My daughter phoned me last night when she got home from school to ask where my 3DS was. She'd seen a festive AC advert on the telly and wanted to play :-)

I had it with me :-(

Reading this makes me wish I started playing Animal Crossing, seems the perfect game for this time of year. :(

At the moment I'd say my 3DS GOTY would be Fire Emblem, although I've taken a bit of a break from it (50hrs in and I'm barely halfway through!).

Still need to get round to LM2, AC and now the new Zelda, though. Probably not until next year.
