    the last year has been one of the best in history IMHO and I've been at this since the late eighties

    starting with Batman, I've bought that and Dragon age, Demon's souls, MW2, Heavy Rain, New Mario, Final Fantasy, God of War 3, Uncharted 2 amongst others and loved all of them (more or less)

    block buster after block buster. I don;t have a 360 but the story is similar over there with Forza, ME 2 and Left for Dead 2

    I think it depends on what type of games you play. There are only 4 games I want to play across ps3 and xbox, so I think the ps2 gen was alot better.

    In truth I think this thread is more about the PS3 finally having a sustained period of decent releases, rather than the gen itself getting better. I think 360 owners are on at least their third wave of big releases now, and the Wii seems to be in its death throws.

    Indeed, this.

    I would've said this generation was hitting its stride about three years ago now and it's been pretty bloody good since then.

    Dunno about the wii part. There at least five games on the wii that I want desperately. Although not desperately enough that I'm willing to pay more the £15 so I suppose that says something.

    Demons souls, valkryia chronicles, Resonace of fate and tales of vesperia.
    They're all rpgs! Broaden your horizons, variety is the fruit of life etc. Try Gears of War, you'll love it.

    Good shout on the Friday drinking.

    You have inspired me to pick up some beers or a bottle of rum or maybe both and get drunk playing myself after work. I think it’s going to be a drunk MW2 session.

    I would play BC2, but I care more if I come across as a drunken asshole there. In MW2 I’ll still be the politest, rational person in the lobby no matter how sideways I get.

    What would you consider to be the the three (or more) "waves of big releases" on the 360?

    Its the best RPG this gen, beats out all western and Japanese RPGs hands down. It was truly amazing.
