I have only just bought Yakuza 1 and don't own a ps3 yet. But, no one had made the thread. So, here...

    Yakuza 5 has been announced.

It seems like Yakuza 4 was only announced last month.

this franchise is going to turn into the japanese equivalent of cod with a game every year. it will get stale very quickly at this rate.

Well, we are a fair bit behind the japanese releases so they do seem bunched up a bit.

    This signature intentionally left blank.

    a few days ago.

Is yakuza 2 subtitles (voices in japanese) only?
  • Deleted user 19 March 2010 13:37:04
Yakuza 2 has both subs and is fully voiced (in jap). Yakuza 3 is subtitles only. Don't tell her about the cuts!

I thought it was only Yakuza 1 that had English voices.
  • Deleted user 19 March 2010 13:46:10
    Simples:

EU and US versions of Yak 2 + 3 are voiced in Japanese with english subtitle. (Sorry Gaol and K8, my post was confusing).

5 games, in my opinion, is enough. Having finished Yakuza 3 I found myself quite disapointed, certainly wasn't as good as Yakuza 2.

Though, Yakuza 5: The apocolypse. :D Could be very interesting.

/Seems more like an Earthquake than a Nuke.

i am really looking forward to playing Yakuza 3, what did you not like about it? But with yakuza psp and yakuza 4, I agree that yakuza 5 should be the last one.

That's because nothing is as good as Yakuza 2. The finale was the most epic, brilliant and cheesy thing ever.

    Here's half the reason:

You could also tell how much was cut from Yakuza 3. Also, didn't like the use of guns towards the end. Still liked the game though; it's Yakuza.

The PSP game does look great but that may not make it to the West for some time.

I liked Yakuza 3. If your ready for a change with your Yakuza games then I wouldn't bother as they've not really changed anything from 2 apart from it being prettier. The cuts didn't bother me in 3 myself though. On your completions list there's still about 600 things to do on it on the western versions with the cuts. Thats enough for me anyway. I'd say I can't wait for Yakuza 5 but we've not even got 4 yet!

Famitsu bits and bobs via andriasang.

Kiryu as the lead, 5 cities, improved battles and (hopefully) more seamless conversations.

Late 2012, early 2013 perhaps ? Let the wait begin......

You can read this ? You've helped ruin the place. :(

    Kiryu again?!

I love the guy but his inclusion in the series is getting increasingly forced.

I prefer that it's him. I liked most of the other characters in 4, but that guy who you had to break out of jail...that whole section was tedious.

It's not a new protagonist I want, it's more locations, so looks like I'll be loving this.

I thought they might have gone with Akiyama instead of Kiryu but I'm not complaining either way.

Being Kiryu's fine. It's the way they forced him into Yakuza 4 that I didn't like. I just hope they don't do that again.
