Stealth is the best thing about this game.

I'm still doing some things the stealthy way (beat the undercover hitman mission without being spotted). So whats the right balance that wouldn't leave me too weak for the bosses? Spending praxis points on armour?

As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a ninja.

The advice I took from earlier in the thread was to max out your Typhoon, and keep hold of any ammo you can find or buy for it. This negates the boss fights, essentially, as a few spins on the Typhoon and you can kill them all.

    Huge Spoiler:

If you want to beat one of the later bosses using this method, you have to refuse to go to the LIMB clinic for your chip upgrade, when your HUD goes on the fritz. Otherwise you are in for a very hard fight.

Beat that Boss just now. I never read your spoiler and went to the LIMB clinic, despite a nagging feeling something was fishy., Boss felt impossible at first but I beat him 10th try or so. Used a variation of most of my current weapons to beat him, plus a heavy machine gun that was there. Beat him by being patient, waiting for him to get close to the pillar I was hiding behind, popping a few shots and running like hell away from his grenades. This was with no sort of health items, although it was normal difficulty, not hard.

Edit: I had hardly any of the stealth enhancer augments (see through walls, see line of sight etc) or a grenade launcher which probably made my fight tougher than it was for other people. Kind of silly really, as I played about half the game in a stealthy way.

Is it just me or are weapons (of the lethal variety) rather unbalanced in this game?

I find myself relying almost solely on my pistol except for boss fights. The other weapons either take up far too much space, have extremely rare ammo, alert all guards in the level when fired or deal as much damage as a pellet rifle.
For instance, focusing on CR seemed like a good idea for my current playthrough but guards are apparently extra resistant to its ammo or something because I run through my reserves in no time.

I appreciate the game pushing players towards stealth irrespective of specialisation but this feels a bit extreme.

Just got a random thought I'd like to share with you guys. The LIMB Clinic music is brilliant. It's simply one of the best pieces of music of any game from the current generation for me.

Yeah. Most of the weapons are just not worth using for the reasons you mentioned. Pistol, Stun Gun and takedowns are all you need really, even on Hard difficulty.

I agree; I used the pistol for 90% of my playthrough (mostly stealth but I also had lots of gunfights), and I kept the standard assault rifle with silencer attached most of the time too. Most other guns took up too much space to be worth the hassle or couldn't be fitted with a silencer, making their usefulness quite limited.

Grenade Launcher is overpowered against that third boss though.

I forgot about the Typhoon. While not necessary it's quite fun to use. Works well against bosses in particular.

It made trhe bosses completely pointless. They all went down in about 10 seconds with the typhoon.

Which was a good thing as the bosses were absolute shite. Annoying as hell!

The EG review for it was rather lukewarm. No personal experience I'm afraid.

It was 600MSP or so a couple weeks back. Will be again.

I cheesed the 3rd boss on hard, was hilarious - it glitches when he leaps over those partition walls. When he lands you can do a normal takedown on him, and you beat him instantly.

thanks RS & Kanjin. i think the there are two packs that are similar but about 100msp difference. WTF? they are gun packs with an extra mission. i'll skip those i think.
They both feature one game-changing item, actually. Bought the 240MSP pack just before starting my 2nd playthrough, and it adds into the game some sort of sticky EMP grenade that automatically hacks any door/computer you plant it on (very worth it if you don't want to spend some praxis points on hacking). The game gives you a couple of them at the start of your playthrough, and you can buy some more in certain gunshops.

For all the folks talking about using the Typhoon to take down the bosses, at what stage should I upgrade it and do you need to upgrade it all the way? I'm at the police station at the moment, so when is the first boss? As I don't want to be stranded without any Parxis points but I could use them in other areas for now. I'm playing on give me a challenge difficulty. Ta.

IIRC the first boss is still a way off and very easy even with regular weapons...

AcidSnake - He can't see your sig, avatar, images or vids and talks about himself in the third person because he's proper old-skool...UID 24017

If you are at the police station you have about an hour before the first boss I reckon. I recommend only having a few weapons (say silenced pistol and assault rifle) but making sure you have plenty of ammo for them

Cheers lads. Just beat the first boss and you're right he's featherweight. How far is the next boss and can you get away with just using one praxis point in the typhoon?

You are swimming in praxis points by the end of the game, so it's worth fully upgrading, especially if you aren't going for a no-kill run.

I played on give me deus ex difficulty and it saved me a few times when I was trapped by a couple of robots and a guard.

Not going for a no kill, although I may do in another play through as I find the stealth to be immensely satisfying in this game. They really nailed that aspect. Cheers.
