Hey all, I'm trying to hook up my PS3 to a HannsG HH221H computer monitor using an HDMI cable. I'd assumed that I'd be able to just plug and go with the HDMI but the monitor isn't reading it, so do I need an adapter?|
I'm hearing things about HDCP compliance and I'm not really sure what that means or if it applies to my situation, I just want to get an HD setup spending as little extra money as possible.
Thanks in advance for any advice guys.

HDMI plugged in...check
Did you previously have it hooked up with something other than HDMI? if so the video mode needs resetting from that. Turn off the PS3 then on the console turn it on using the console not the controller and hold it until it beeps. It should then display fine but in low res. Then just go into the display settings to set it too 720p/1080p.
is the monitor HDCP compatable? probibly not if its not working
what monitor have you got?
More info on HDCP
I cant imagine it wont suppot HDCP if it has HDMI. Even DVI monitors support it. If he's used it through Scart or component it wont display through anything else until he resets it and changes it to HDMI. I've had to do the same.
^^ try this first
Spectral was on the money, thanks guys.

I had to disable 1080i as an available mode to get parts of some Blue-Rays to work on my monitor.
