    Confirmed, will revolutionise, etc etc

Maybe they'll get real guitars working with it this time.

I bought The Beatles and liked. I'll have to see the setlist, though. Setlist is everything.

Why would they want to use real guitars?

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

They've talked about it. Why wouldn't you want to use real guitars? It could be used as a teaching tool, and I'd sure love to learn guitar. There are already games out that use real guitars, but they're more of a hardcore game for people who can already play. I think the market would be huge if they can get it right.

I can already play guitars. If I want to play to a song, I'll just play the song and play along. If it uses "real" guitars it still won't quite be right, especially for rock and fast metal stuff... Sure it could be a teaching tool - but it's all in the hands. If you wanna learn guitar you have to make the same chord shapes and play the same scales just to build dexterity and grip 'n' shit. Far different to actually playing a game - a game would be fun but using a real guitar might not be.

It's one of those ideas that sounds AWESOMESONEONE on paper but might actually be a little bit shit in reality. The current controllers are game controllers. An actual guitar would be a "shit guitar"...

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

It's probably not gonna be in this game.

It'd be absolutely awesome if they allowed proper guitars. There's a game like that I desperately want. However, according to their awesome website, it will be released in the past.

Allow the user to build the song library ingame from any music they want (as much as can be licenesed at any rate). Any DLC purchase includes an MP3 copy. Include Beatles-stylee harmonies. Massively improve the structure and fun of career mode and no more setlists with the same average early tier songs over and over again. Integrate natal camera for video charts / viewing. Add effects pedals.

I hope next weeks DLC isn't indicative of what sort of tracks will be on the Rock Band 3 disc...

    http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-4593-Lady-Gaga-&-South-Park-Heading-to-Rock-Band-Next-Week.html

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

A bit mean to use that as a current DLC example when well over 100 really varied songs came out last week with the launch of RBN.

Also, one of the things I love about Rock Band is the breadth of music. I quite like the disc releases for all the songs that I wouldn't ever choose to download, but end up being lots of fun to play.

Sweet, It will probably something more like the AC/DC rock band jib rather than a full Pearl Jam game. Fans have been able to vote for tracks that appear in the game on their wesbite. All of them were live tracks from gigs. They do have hundreds of bootlegs though so plenty to choose from. It's less than a month till I see them in Belfast, wooot.

I would want to get the game but probably use the controllers I already have instead of shelling out for more. So I hope they don't release any with it :p

I wonder IF and HOW pro mode might be incorporated into the already available songs. That's a lot of songs that'll need re-charting.

Sounds great. I was going to buy it anyway but it sounds like there's a lot of decent features being added. Sounds like you can't plug in a standard electric guitar in for pro mode which is a shame. I'm not buying another just to be compatible with this.

Well now I know what the money I earn this summer will be going on; one of those sexy guitars with actual strings has my name on it.

I was already quite excited at the prospect of Rock Band 3. This business with strings on the guitar sounds interesting. The USA Today article also mentioned that it'd be more formally using cymbals on the drum kit too, which I've been doing as much as possible already on my Ion kit. Keyboards should make things pretty lively.

Having five instruments on the go might not be so feasible though, given that the Xbox only seems to allow four controllers and profiles to be logged in at once. Online it might not be a problem, but the game is at it's best when you have your band playing in the same room. We'll see soon enough I'd imagine.
