It's fun in small bursts otherwise it gets repetitive.

Right chaps, sorry to be doing everyone's head in with questions. Are all the DLC's worth buying for this?

Oh.... And if my mates don't have it and I do, can't we still play together?

Depends. You like multiplayer or campaign stuff? How much is the season pass going for these days?

The 4 DLCs you can buy basically boil down to 1 Horde pack, 1 Campaign add-on and 2 multiplayer map packs.

In my opinion the Horde Command Pack is easily the weakest as it only gives you some fortifications for Horde.

RAAM's Shadow is the best of the bunch.

Yes you can play together if they don't have the DLC. You can't play on the DLC though (obviously).

Quick question ladies and gents! May sound silly but want to be sure before me and some friends go forward.
I know Gears 3 can support 4 player co-op (linked consoles yadda yadda). Does this mean UP TO 4? I.E can only 3 people play. Or does it have to be 4 people?

Many thanks in advance of your answers.

Up to 4. If only 3 of you, the AI will control the other or indeed others :-)

What are the different colour ranks?
Some people have white numbers, some red, green, or a badge or mine is yellow.

It depends if you re-up once you get too level 100/wings.

White is still on the first run. Then green, red & blue I think.

Speaking of colours, I'm Blue 58 now. I played 1 Guardian yesterday and got 35000 xp!
Also played 40 waves of Horde, team of 4, no comms, not too shabby
    :-)

A few games of that and I could maybe reach red (eventually)! I am green 80-odd. I think, so a wee bit over half-way there.

I might fire gears 3 up some time soon actually. I miss playing it.

I'm 66 first time through. Don't like that you get almost no experience playing arcade campaign. I got more experience from one game of capture the leader, 35,000 ish, than I did completing the entire campaign.

It is fun killing Locusts again, in "normal" verses matches, let me know if and when, I'm still owed a certain set of ivory skins ;-)

    @revan
Play Guardian it is x 6 or 8, may even be higher. The game I came into yesterday, we were 2-1 down, we endid up winning 2-3, I got 4 kills, 2 as leader, I also survived as leader in the last round and got 35000xp for it!

I'm normally pants on cap the leader but had lucky go as the leader, managed 7 kills with crafty grenade sticking and desperate use of chain saw. Got my first ever five kills or more as the leader ribbon plus the never get captured one.

Guardian is ace, except when you are leader and you change your game and become a coward.

One of the few good things about judgement is that I quite like the ability to get a grenade these days.  ;)

Jesus guardian is mental with exp. Went from level 67 to 76 in ten games.
Couple of good games I got 75,000 exp!

Also it's surprising how often chainsaw works and gets you a kill when things are going crazy. People just expect you to gnasher roll round the corner, I enjoy giving them a chainsaw to the chest.

    NoOb ;)

I didn't realise the chainsaw is a noob tactic like the noob tube in bf3, I will have to use it even more. :).

The retro lancer seems a bit nerfed from last time I used it in versus.

    Chainsaw noob has history.

    Is this the relevant link?

That was a pretty funny read. Some people get so angry. I got one a couple days ago, it was a game of guardian and it ended a 1v1 me versus someone better and he got the upper hand so I legged it and hid to try see out the round or get him with the retro when he attacked with the gnasher. Anyway there were about ten seconds left and he pulled out a flame grenade and went to chuck it and killed himself.
Then followed an abuse message. "you +-+=ing pussy, I owned you" etc etc.

    Oh dear :p

I managed 110k from a game of Guardian over the weekend. Not that it matters as I've maxed out my rank now heh.

It takes something special to nuke me when I'm leader, as my brother would put it, I'm just too damn sneaky at times. Yes, you have to hold back a bit, which some people conveniently ignore when they are leader, but doesn't mean you can't help your team mates.

Frankly, I don't mind being the one with the large X on their back as it usually means we'll win the round.

    Be mindful of your surroundings

Highly relevant advice for being leader! The Tac/Com is there for a reason. If I'm not shooting something, I always have it operating to see where everyone is.

Lie with passion and be forever damned...

  • Deleted user 13 May 2013 13:50:45
Yeah I need to start being more cautious when the leAder, it is an important job.
Yesterday a round ended with my team winning and I got a ribbon for not getting captured as the leAder, the problem was I had no idea I was the leader until the round was over. Good job I had a good round.

Sound advice. This is my game plan in Guardian as well, tho I always lurk at the back away from the action.
