I still wish Mark ''Human Target'' Valley had got the part.

yeah but... its weird. Its like christopher reeves playing batman. Plus as I said earlier, Chris Evans has a twat face.

Not that I'm bothered to be honest, captain america ranks right up there with wonder woman and squirrel boy for lame superheros imo.

Have you read any of the more recent stuff from the last couple of years? Ed Brubaker's run on Captain America has been nothing short of brilliant. Easily one of my top Marvel comics.

The costume pics are great as it's clearly the version the stuntmen wear so lacks alot of detail. Just need to see Evans in the actual 40's suit.

Yeah I heard the recent comics are supposed to be good, but I just don't get on with the whole concept of the character to be honest (overly patriotic Americans really get on my tits). I admit I donít really know that much about the character though to be honest, but it always just seemed cheesy to me.

Very little patriotism and loads of gritty spy type stuff, I never rated the character until I read the new stuff. Brubaker has gone off the boil recently but everything up to around issue 50 is great.

That is the 40's suit, no? The whole film is a period piece.

So I read, at least the first half / 2 thirds are, I think it ends with him being thawed out (ala Ultimates)?

I thought it ends with him being frozen, and he's found in the Avengers (the freezing/thawing thing is a part of Cap's history, it's in everything).

No idea, either way that costume is the 40's one as you rightly pointed out, the motorbike he is on is another dead giveaway.

We might be treated to some of the Nick Fury canon too, the syrum he takes to keep him young (so far not mentioned in the films at all) as he plays himself in 1945 as well.

    First proper picture of Evans

Don't think that looks awful. Pretty close to his funky Ultimates WW2 costume.

    That looks nothing like Evans!

Good costume though, pretty much what I expected. Looking forward to this.

I really hope The Avengers goes down The Ultimates route. Ignore the rest of the ultimate universe, its rubbish. But Lindelofs original is great!

CA Film seems to have the look nailed. But Joe Johnson is a hack, and always will be a lowest common denominator director, that's my fear.

After The Wolfman I do have my fears. Quite liked JP3 though. Hopefully he's pulled this one out the bag.

JP3 is the only movie of his I remotely enjoyed, but there's an emptiness and plastisicity to his direction that is. Well. Too filmy I guess. Soulless. Hell, it's a comic movie, what am I talking about :D

    Umm, stupid looking costume:

    http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/113723-new-photo-of-chris-evans-as-captain-america

It's almost as bad as that 80's costume.

From that photo it looks quite pants. Hopefully the 'magic of cinema' will make it look awesome on the big screen.

I quite like it, fairly faithful to the (Ultimate) comics at least.

I like it, especially how they kept the wings without actually having them sticking out of his head.

At least it doesn't seem to have rubber ears.

I don't know what people expect, tbh. It looks as good as a guy wearing a giant stars and stripes with a big A on his forehead can look.
