Cap movie is incoming next year. Joe Johnston of The Rocketeer, Jumanjii and The Wolfman directing at this point, which is slightly positive, I suppose, if he brings some of that pulp Rocketeer fun to the proceedings.

There's a rumour that Chris Pine is in the running, although John Krasinski from the Office, among others, is allegedly being considered. Odd choice if true, he'd need to seriously bulk up for that part, but could pull off pre-serum Cap.

If you don't want to wait or are a glutton for punishment you can always watch the awful 1990s Captain America.

Here are some other famous captains:
    Captain Comic
    Captain Planet
    Captain Haddock

I thought Will Smith was going to be the lead? Great news if that's not true!

All of them must be represented on the big screen before Hollywood can rest.

They are gearing up for an Avengers movie, although I had read that Cap's origin would be told in the Avengers movie rather than on it's own.

Kenneth branagh is making Thor as we speak, Iron Man 2 is on the way, not sure how they will handle the Hulk since Ed Norton can be a pain in the arse. Spiderman is being considered for a re-boot but he wasn't a member full time was he?

I thought the Avengers movie basically was going to be the Captain America movie?

Whatever, I don't mind these new Marvel films, found them all entertaining enough so far.

Spider-Man is being rebooted but won't have anything to do with the Avengers film.

I think the cap movie will end with him being frozen. The avengers movie will start with him being found and revived. Not sure if that spoiler is needed but you never know.

From what i heard the Captain America film is meant to be set in WW2 fighting Red Skull and the Nazis, then he gets frozen and is reawakened right at the start of the Avengers film. Just like the comics and probably just a fanboy wish.

Really looking forward to it, that utterly shit Hulk 2 got me wet for Cap as Tim Roth actually looked excellent outrunning the other marines and fighting the hulk. Can't wait to see it done by the old red white and blue.

Change the costume and i go on a rape rampage mind.

    *edit Up yours arrit! :D

Yeah, Tim Roth was 'Ultimates' powered rather than the slightly crappy 'peak of human fitness' powered of the normal marvel universe.

It would actually be kind of cool if they did the Nazi Skrull story from the Ultimates as the movie and have it end when he smashes the nuclear bomb.

I'm sure The Ultimates will be the main source material they use, it certianly was for Hulk and Iron Man, and the Spider-Man movies were much more Ultimate than classic as well. X Man too.

At the moment they're saying it will be set mostly in the 1940s, so Nazi Skrull or Red Skull is a possibility.

Wot? Original was created with the super soldier serum and vita ray bombardment, the canister of shizzle they had in the film had the name of the same doctor who did it in the comics to cap?

Yeah but in the ultimates Captain America can punch through a tank. In the 'proper' universe he is actually a bit of a pussy. The Tim Roth version seemed to be more ultimates, especially since he also went toe to toe with the hulk for a while in that too.

Yeah, there was some talk about the Invaders being on there also. That would be great, I used to love Union Jack when I was a kid.

I see nobody has mentioned 'the problem'... Bucky :D I think they should put him in, then have him become Winter Soldier for The Avengers.

They'll probably leave him out, saying that audiences wouldn't accept the USA putting a 15 year old boy into a war zone.

Same with why they will never put Robin into any of the new batman films.

Other than the fact it make him look like a pedo.

Who thought 'wards' were a good idea?

"In June 2009, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige said that it's a "safe bet" that Bucky is going to show up in The First Avenger: Captain America feature film."

Bucky's different from robin, bucky is the red shirt of marvel. Any way to maim/kill/torture him and it'll have been done :D

Bucky wasn't 15 in the Ultimates, he was an army photographer. I guess that's the version they'll go with.

They will probably use the Ultimates, since they used their Nick Fury (Jackson).

And since its likely to an ultimates version, bucky will probably just be Caps Press guy rather than his butt monkey.

At least by using the ultimates versions they still leave it open to fucking do them properly in ten or so years.

That would be ace. I'd like the Ultimates 'Nazi Aliens' storyline where Cap unleashes the Hulk to destroy the leader. That scene is cracking.
