    Well I just finished Psychonauts and honestly, I found it alot harder to beat than all of the serious sam series.
    Maybe because it's the first platformer I've actually played beginning to end, but oh my god...such a great game.
    Maybe in a few months I'll do it all over again but make sure I get everything. That regeneration bit sounds interesting. I don't know if it'll ever get used seeing as the only time I got down to one life was the milkman levels.

    Yeah, the OP is right. Psychonauts was a much more difficult platformer than Serious Sam.

    Ikaruga, and the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on the NES. Never got to Shredder at the end because of those jetpack laser cunts in the technodrome.

    I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

    Ikaruga is only hard if you treat it as a shooter. Once you realise it's actually a puzzle/memory test game, it gets a lot easier if you have the time and inclination. Same with more hardcore shmups.

    What was that awful Gremlin Graphics one about the Weasel?

    Kids think games today are tough - try playing a platform game in which the platforms across a body of water move up up/down into/out of the water randomly and touching said water in insta-death.

    The hardest game I've played in recent years is F Zero GX. There's no fucking around with this game, no easy slower cars to get you into it, it's straight into light speed racing with tracks with no barriers. I can see how this game could be brilliant if only I had the time and patience to get into it but it's just too hard out of the box. I shudder to think what its like as you get further into it.

    Hehe. Thing is you could just name 90% of Spectrum games. They were almost all stupidly hard. I sometimes wonder if the ones that were considered "good" were just the ones you didn't turn off in frothing anger after 10 seconds.

    I suspect the reason they weren't turned off in anger was due to the 15 minutes it took to load the stupid game!
