It really highlights how much of a bargain the Hudl is, even though it looks a dog. If I had the money right now, I'd be getting 2 for Ticket to Ride multiplayer...

Amazon has confirmed that the HDX range is coming to the UK, and the HD now becomes the low end device. Sadly, it's priced to compete with Hudl, which has twice the storage, a better screen, and a faster processor and GPU. The HDX meanwhile is priced to compete with the Nexus 7 refresh, and isn't too bad a run for it - but is, natch, stuck with their custom OS, and as such isn't really competitive. The 9" ones are lovely though.

Very much my experience in Thailand. Quite normal to see seven and eight inch tablets used as phones.

Yes. People are constantly gaming or using line and facebook in Bangkok, don't know where they get the money for their expensive phones.

They live with their parents rent free until they get married. ;-)

And as the article says, for quite a few it's a combination of phone, media consumption, web and competent enough to knock up a basic CV.

Line seems to be a pretty essential tool for dating over here :-)

It may well be starting at 299 over here this time.

... still very reasonable, me thinks!

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is, IMHO, fucking ace. What an incredible piece of hardware this is.

I've upgraded from an iphone 4S, btw. Feel like I've stepped forward in time by ten years.

    : )

Oh, I tried connecting my Note 2 to my Wifi for about five minutes without success. I tried the obvious of manually setting my Note 2's IP address and finally managed to connect. Did you try that, moron?

WPS button on your router? Alternatively try entering the SSID manually.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

Those threads mention you can connect to network with static ip, but in this case there is no internet. So I didn't try it
    Huh?

Funny you should mention that, I turned WPS off on my router and found that my android devices connected far more reliably.

Just upgraded to an LG G2 (from Galaxy S2). Beautiful phone, really slick interface and super fast. Plus the screen is awesome. Highly recommended for the price (maybe a Nexus 5 beats, but EE are not offering that on contract).

@senso-ji How are you getting on with the buttons on the rear of the phone? I've heard they can be a bother. What deal did you get? Months/cost? I'm with EE and considering this upgrade.

    @Razz

In honesty, I think having the buttons on the back is very clever. It means the phone can be held in any position without accidentally hitting the buttons (unless you rest you fingers where the buttons are on the back). Plus it makes for a more ergonomic design. Although if it annoys some people, then I understand that as this kind of design decision is not for everyone. Not that you can sleep/wake up the phone by double tapping the screen anyway, so no need to use the power button.

As for cost, I was on 30 from two years ago with orange but I dropped down to 15 to save money in my second year of the contract. I've gone back up to 30 per month with EE but now I get 4G data (capped at 2GB per month), with the handset costing 120. You can get the handset for 20 if you take out a 35 p/mo contact.

Nexus 5 had been delivered, ordered last Friday, ignore the "shipping on the 8th of November" message on the Play store.

Boxing up for our house move has meant no time to look at it yet! - first thoughts tomorrow... hopefully

I got mine today (Nexus 5) and its lovely. The screen is so much brighter and crisper than the Xperia Z. Its faster and lighter. So far, so good.

    :)

The Z is a great phone, but the screen brightness seemed low even on full brightness. It has some great features if you have other Sony products (PS3, TV) plus Xperia privilege and Xperia lounge are must have apps.

    Nice
