Just reading about that as well:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24203271

My prediction is that it will fail miserably.

I dunno, it's a pretty good price point for presents for teenagers etc. It obviously won't be as good as some on the market, but as something to browse on etc, it might do OK.

Just seems to be trying to fill a niche that doesn't exist IMO. Amazon already have a Kindle Fire under 100 but I guess Tesco are going for the market that doesn't shop online.

You would wonder if tesco are going to gimp it in the same way amazon have locked down the kindle fire.

Doesn't sound like it - they just have some Tesco-specific apps all in one place on the home bar.

Quick one, when you upgrade your phone through the normal channels, should you receive a SIM to go with it?

In my experience they usually just expect you to use the old one.

Yeah, thought they'd be clever and realise I've upgraded to smaller SIM phone. Never mind, I'll pop into the shop.

That happened to me as well. I downloaded a template and cut my old one down myself.

Any phone shop will have a SIM cutter thing and will be happy to cut it down for you. Unless they're arseholes of course.

They don't. I'm tempted to go down the cutting route, I genuinely don't know what I lose off the SIM if I get a brand new one. Messages? Contacts? My collection of testicle photos?

Yay, my s4 is doing what Android does and is now fucking up. It is going very slow a lot of the time and apps are randomly refusing to open. The play store hasn't opened in a few days. Plenty of memory, no software updates, restarted etc. Anything else I can do?

Root it at a guess. Factory reset if you don't want to do that.

I'm on my second Anrdoid (Wildfire and now One S) phone, and have a Nexus 7. None of them have fucked up. Maybe you're using them wrong?

Rooting it seems a bit extreme!

Move apps to SD card and check you have a fast SD card installed. Clear out shit, uninstall apps etc.. I'd be tempted to reset the app preferences as well, via Settings - Application Manager - Reset App Preferences. Be aware what this does.

I don't know what I'm talking about btw, just random shit I'd try.

He can't mention android without saying it's terrible, it's an odd affliction but there you go.

On the subject I've had 3 android devices and have had different issues with all of them, but none were because they were android.

    Portable view - Never forget.

    Samsung curved OLED phone revealed:

    http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/08/samsung-galaxy-round/

Looks stupid. I really hope the LG offering later this month is better than this and is curved the correct way.

I actually kind of like it ... and I don't often say kind things about Samsung!

Tilting the phone to the side will show notifications, the date/time and battery levels.

Surely a concave screen offers more reach-ability for your fingers?

    I like it.

    : )

p.s. I'll have a good laugh if Apple decides to do this one day.

Why? It's likely that the issues are being caused by the Shite bloatware that Samsung include on their phones. Root it, install a decent custom rom, away you go.

It's sad that Samsung have paid their way to become the poster boy of Android since their TouchWiz crap is so horrible.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Just grabbed an S4 as my S2 had an untimely death.

The extra bollocks seems more than a little useless so probably be rooting it and chucking something custom on it.

    Nice phone though.

Probably nicer in your pocket too, and probably nicer to hold too. I like this.

According to the battery app installed on my Nexus7 it now takes over 14 hours to fully charge the bloody thing!

    Any solutions?

Charging via a USB port? From the mains? Using the original charger or another micro-USB you had knocking about?
