    By my quick maths, I make the iPad 5 potentially weighing 450g (iPad 2 601g, iPad 3/4 652g) and a thickness of 8mm (iPad 2 8.8mm, iPad 3/4 9.4mm)

    That's some shrinkage.

I'm definitely going for the mini next time. I also have a 2 right now, and I feel like the size is just slightly too big for using on my commute. The mini will be perfect.

However, I foresee a long and enduring life for my iPad 2 as a music player and media consumption device at home. How did we live without Airplay before?

Getting jealous of the Microsoft Surface keyboard?

    Nice, but 120?

Bought a nexus 7, brilliant software but what a hunk of shite as far as build quality is concerned. Think it will be a new iPad for the next tablet, it's nice when your portable tablet computers are stronger than a muffin.

Yeah, pretty expensive kal but I guess it's right at the top end of the product range. I do like their stuff, Ultrathin Keyboard Cover looks nice as well, for 90 RRP. Never pay RRP of course.

Don't really go in for all that anyway. My typing on the ipad is very limited.

I still have mixed feeling about my ipad. I probably use it more than any other gadget, and yet there's really nothing on it that I couldn't either do on my computer or my phone. It's like the most useful pointless thing I have.

This is not true at all mowgli, granted the Nexus isn't as sturdy as an iPad, but the build quality is still extremely good.

Isn't it more true that you're simply a clumsy fucking oaf and you sat on it, or chucked it around?

Nah, it's a typical pikey quality Android device. Shame as it is an awesome device despite that.

I'd be into an upgrade for that shit as I skipped the unnecessary 4th gen.
Hmmmm if it was actually 25% lighter i might consider going back to a big ipad!

Well, there aren't many that would agree with you.

How did you break it again?

Yeah that sums it up for me to some extent.

Its just much more comfortable to use on the sofa, or lying in bed.

mowgli, you never were upfront about how it broke. Now you come up with build quality issues like it has nothing to do with your oafishness!

    I call bullshit.

I can't be bothered to search for the post, but there was definitely oafishness involved :)

Never upfront? Fuck off, that's bullshit. I can't be bothered finding the thread but long story short, I dropped it, caught it against the wall before it hit the ground so it fell about a foot. It was wrapped up in a protective case (including screen). Screen completely shattered and utterly useless now. Some research online shows it's not a rare problem and people at shop also confirmed they have seen a lot of them with a shattered screen due to slight impact. Great device but with all things Android it comes at the expense of awful build quality and hardware.

I dropped an old iPhone 3 out of a first floor window a few years ago. The screen completely shattered, Apple build quality of also terrible.

To be fair a lot of things will break if you drop them:

My iPad 3 hardly touched anything, but got dents in its magnesium edges* as if they were made of muffins.

    edit: beautifully rounded magnesium edges

I would DEARLY love to never see another "Our website has an app! Would you like to download it fuck face?" message, ever, ever again. Ever!

I know if I paid 200 quid for something that was likely to break if I dropped it I'd be really careful with it.

Oh wait, I did and I am.

I genuinely would pay 5 for an app that stops those happening.

Especially Tapatalk or whatever it is called, that can fuck right off.

Edit: Fuck, remined to me read the last page next time and see that the joke has already been made... I would pay though seriously.

Haha this, so much this. Mine was unused and uncharged for 3 months and I didn't miss it.

Doesn't stop me wanting that sweet keyboard mrpon linked to.
