    How can the iPad guardian version be 10 quid a month, whilst the iphone version is 5 quid a year?!?!? Crazy!

    That said, 10 quid a month doesn't seem ridiculous, when you consider how much it'd cost to buy the physical paper 30 times.

    The Guardian app isnt even good. Its lovely designed but the content was abysmal.

    It's even more baffling when you consider that the website a) looks great on the iPad, b) has more content and c) is free. I suppose there's a group that need/want to be able to download the paper to their iPad for offline reading later, but for everyone else, it's pointless.

    We get it free because the inlaws subscribe to the paper version but don't use the ipad code so we can instead :)

    £259 for a same spec refurb on the Apple Store.

    Do people here think Apple will announce a "newer" iPad today?
    'Cause I am about to buy the "new" iPad (for gaming, however crazy that might sound) and wouldn't like to get burnt.

    I suspect it may be a new iPod touch.

    It's rumoured that Apple have a load of new products coming soon. These are a new Nano and iPad mini. Also a "newer" iPad, a new MBP and new iMacs.

    Would take with a pinch of salt though.

    If you are getting an iPad for gaming I'd say don't bother. I've had mine for 2 months and am yet to find a game worth playing for more than an hour. With the exception on old point and click adventures and puzzle games that would run fine on a first gen ipad or a PC from 2002.

    That's not to say I don't love my iPad, it is an amazing piece of kit for web surfing and media, however for gaming it is very lacklustre.

    Saying that, 90% of the reason I bought my iPad is because Baldur's Gate is being released on it so I am hoping my views change shortly.

    New iPad will probably be announced in October. There is a rumour of another announcement for then and todays one is going to be all about the iPhone, they won't want to dilute this with a new iPad as well.

    My ipad 2 fell out my bag last night and the screen cracked, FML. There is a £100 down the drain to get that fixed.

    There are glass kits on ebay for 35 quid and a load of videos on youtube showing you how to do the repair.

    copied and pasted from the ipad app review thread;

    A trio of mini-reviews;

    Bastion £2.99

    I was initially very skeptical about this port, virtual joysticks as a general rule just are not good enough.

    So glad I was wrong.

    I missed out on this on XBLA so went in as a newbie. Cannot believe the sheer amount of content you get for £2.99. I changed the settings to the virtual joysticks rather than the gesture based controls and they are perfect, not once have i felt that they have impeded my progress.

    The graphics are sublime on the "new" ipad as well.

    Based on the quality, controls, graphics and value this has to be a....

    10/10

    Mikey-Shorts 69p

    Another ambassador for virtual controls done right. Navigate Mikey through environments by simply running, jumping and sliding in the quickest way possible whilst "rescuing" people.

    Starts quite easy but 3-starring the later levels can be a bit tough. Got a lovely charm to it with the pixel art and soundtrack.

    Super Hexagon 69p on offer at the moment

    A game from Terry Cavanagh (maker of VVVVVV). The whole premise of the game is to navigate through the pyschadelic barriers the game chucks out whilst pumping along to some fantastic chip music (this is a real highlight). As you progress the layout and shapes of the barriers change. It PROPER fucks with your head.

    Controls are OK, i worry that at later speeds they could get in the way but for now they are good.

    I have said it already but the music is awesome, play it with headphones.

    It has already been moaned about on itunes reviews for being too hardcore, it is bastard hard and not for the casual crowd. It harks back to the "one more go" time of classic arcade games.

    Has anyone tried it yet? On the base difficulty I am only up to 34 seconds!!

    I can see this staying on my ipad for awhile, it really is fantastic.

    I guess I'm late to this, but I presume you all know about the Walking Dead games? I'm only just starting with episode 1, but I'm impressed so far. Playing on my iPhone 4S, since I only have an iPad 1, but it must be lots better on the iPad2 or 3.

    The Economist just won't show up on my new iPad after being installed. Anyone know what may cause this?
    I tried uninstalling it, re-downloading the app, reinstalling... it's still not there. Weird.

    Also big thumbs up to cloud saving.
    I can now alternate playing Dead Trigger on two different systems (Xperia Play and iPad) whichever I prefer at the moment.
    And I was able to continue my old save from Xperia on the iPad. I find it amazing.

    Yeah; I once frigged an 80gb IPOD by buying, and trying to fit a new part of the circuit that connects the headphone jack which had stopped functioning in one ear.

    Thing was from China.
