That ship has sailed unfortunately. :/
Husband and kid. Though we were reminiscing about the school/college days and she dug out a few pictures. A fancy dress party was involved and she went as Lara Croft. Awesome!!!! :)

Well, I have been through various phases on my iPad. At first I bought small games for quick consumption, as that was what I always did on my iPhone and it has served me relatively easy while spending a minimum of money. But as I quickly found out, I use and expect very different things on my iPad than my iPhone (and console). The previously fun small games were in fact quite boring. They serve as time wasters on my iPhone, but I had no need to waste time on my iPad. I wanted a greatet level of immersion.

So i started reading reviews, forums etc. Eventually I ended up buying some "hardcore" games, but quickly found myself asking - why don't I enjoy games like these on my PS3, where the experience is almodt always greatly enhanced.

Lately, I seem to have found a way to enjoy games on my iPad. I focus on less games, but look for ones with some strategy and immersion that is unique. I usually have 30 minutes or so sessions on my iPad. I also look for games that are designed for touch. I don't like the virtual analogue sticks and other gimmicks.

Right now I'm thoroughly enjoying Kingdom Rush with Battleheart and Civilization waiting afterwards. Othr games that I would recommend are Hunters and World of Goo.

Exactly what Frug says. Don't bother with the traditional games with virtual thumb sticks, stick to slower strategic games that use the touch screen.

I've said it on the last page and on a good number of other pages previously, Kingdom Rush. I think I'll move onto Civilisation once I've finished every achievement on Kingdom Rush, I must have put over 24 hours into it. Also to consider are Orbital and Osmos.

Sorry for this, all completely new to me this (potential) iPad purchase - but if I'm going for the new iPad what is the best sim card carrier to go for?

    How does this work abroad?

    Thanks

I think orange and O2 don't work abroad, videophone might do a roaming bundle but expect to pay an absolute fortune when travelling in any case. A much better idea would be to take advantage of any coffee shop, bar, restaurant or hotel free or (relatively) cheap wi fi.

If you have an iPhone you can use it as a 3G hotspot for your iPad over wi fi and only use and pay for your existing data package.

@elstoof - Thanks, so any preference for general use in the UK? and presumably you can turn off data roaming, etc, whilst abroad?

    That's way to obvious. :)
I'll dig out an Apple support number and ema... No no text that to her. :)
You will all be pleased to know she's sorted it. 10 minute call to the Apple Support team and everything is back as it was.

@eleven63 I'd imagine all the providers offer much the same prices unless you're a niche user so you'd be best off looking at their websites and see what's best for you. Data roaming can be switched off just like on a mobile.

@eleven63 3 offer 1gig pm for £7.50 and no images compression like O2 do with 3G on the iPad and iPhone, reason I left them for both.

If you have an iPhone you could get An-all-you-can-eat data package which includes 'personal hotspots' too so you can connect an iPad to that.

Everybody has secrets, life would be boring without secrets, don't you think...?

Got myself an iPad last week after deliberating for about a year.

I'm really enjoying it, but like most people probably do in this thread (I must confess to not reading all 202 pages) I'm interested in App and Game recommendations

This retractable stylus looks pretty sexy and met its Kickstarter target pretty quickly.

Give yourself ½ gig or a £, you're worth it.

i've never dropped my ipad (touch wood) but i'm fairly certain a drop onto a non-carpeted floor would finish it mortal kombat style

just picked up an ipad today.

Wouldn't mind a few suggestions on what games / other apps to pick up immediately.

I've grabbed New Star Soccer and Pandemic after the EG reviews this week, and Kingdom Rush after reading the last few pages of this thread. Kind of interested in Pirates / Football Manager as well, but any other suggestions welcome.

For apps, I've grabbed BBC / Sky / Skype / Lastfm so far. Are there any obvious ones I've missed?
